All these are approximate. :)
Height: 6'3" or 6'4".
Chest: 47" relaxed, 49" expanded. (Without clothes.)
Waist: 36" or 37"
Weight: 230 - 235 lbs.
I'm not sure of my sleeve length.
Basically what happened is that I own a size 50 Hercules (with an extra 2" in the arms and body)...
Thanks again for the feedback and suggestions.
I think that the sleeves will shorten a bit with wear, as the jacket creases up. We'll have to see, as I might be a tad optimistic. :Cutting some of the bulk out will help too. I think that this can be done.
Otherwise I'll have to hope that...
Thanks James.
The trouble is that I need a big size to fit around the shoulders (my old one was a size down, and too tight). Unfortunately British clothing companies tend to assume that anyone needing a large size will have an equally large gut.
The fit's a lot better with a (thick) jumper...
I think that the jackets sold by Original Fliegerjacken are mostly Aeros and Eastmans.
If you compare the Messerschmidt jacket (linked to above), with:
http://www.eastmanleather.com/WWIILuft.htm
It's apparent that the details are identical. (The same label, zips, etc.) Only Eastman are...
It's Arrived!
I got home tonight to find a large parcel from Scotland. :)
Here's the jacket from the front, unbuttoned:
Buttoned:
And from the back:
I'm not 100% sure about the fit right now. It's fine over the shoulders, as there's space to fit a sweatshirt underneath...
Dank u wel Pablo. :)
The only hatmaker that I know of in Amsterdam runs the Petsalon shop. Unfortunately she specialises in caps:

There are a couple of hat shops (The English Hatter and Hoeden BV) in Amsterdam, and another up in Gorinchem. But I think that...
Szaszi hats are very expensive. :(
His bespoke line is around 2500 euros, though his ready to wear hats are around 600. So quite a bit more pricey than an Adventurebilt.
Who was the Jewish hatter in Antwerp?
There are a few remnants of the British hat industry around Luton, such as...
Aero make a version of that jacket, and they'll do it in brown if you ask.

The double breasted fastening came about because I wanted to avoid a zip. My previous Aero used a Talon, and that's broken twice, the second time just before I put the order in...
I saw a similar jacket about sixteen or seventeen years ago, and regretted not buying it at the time. I've never...
My somewhat modified Aero Cossack is just being finished off, and I got sent a couple of photos by Amanda so that I could decide on button placement.
Since there seems to be an Aero fan club around here, here's a sneak preview:
The jacket's a Cossack with a double breasted, button-up...
The correct way of doing rollover stitching is to put a couple of rows of stitching through the leather before folding it over, and putting the last (visible) row in.
The reason for doing this is that it protects the hidden seams from ultraviolet light, which can cause degradation in the...
I'm still waiting for my new jacket to arrive, so I don't have any regrets. Well, not just yet...
There are two things that I agree with Belly Tank.
The first is that some of their hardware could be nicer. They were OK with me supplying my own buttons, and I got some nice (and overpriced...
The AB Deluxe waiting time is around 11 months, so much the same as for Steve's standard model.
Marc Kitter's easy to deal with, being both very friendly and helpful.
I ordered up a Deluxe a month or two ago, as I wanted a bound brim. That's something that Steve doesn't offer. For an EU...
My head measures exactly 61 cm (7 5/8), though I've been measured between 60 and 62 cm at times...
I've got a modern brown Stetson that I'm currently wearing, which is a 60 cm (7 1/2), and is a bit loose. The Akubras seem to come up a bit large for their size sometimes so I'd go down a size...
Aeros sometimes run a bit small, so going up a size would be wise.
If you want to be sure, measure your jacket (armpit to armpit, length, etc.), send these through to Aero, and ask which size this corresponds to. They should be able to advise better. :)
Kentaurus in Koln carries a range of...
New Max (who make the Borsalino lids) also make the Momo Design range of helmets.
These meet the ECE 22.05 standard, which I believe is mandatory for motorcycle helmets in the EU and other countries, and is stricter than the DOT tests.
I don't think that the problems with Cordovan bleeding are as bad as they might sound from reports on the Internet. At least, I hope they're not, as I've got a jacket in the leather coming in the next few days.
I did ask Amanda about it before putting my order in, and she said that they had...
I got my first Fedora today. :)
Sorry that the photo's not great.
It's a modern Stetson, in their 100x pure beaver grade felt, which has a nice feel to it. Where it falls down is that the sweatband is fabric, so I may well get that replaced by a leather one when I find a decent hatter...
