Question for all Irvin crasy members. Any Irvin book on the market?

Good call, Andrew. No sense publishing until you are 100% happy, you'd only regret it afterwards.

Aero A-2 'Unknown Maker' 1756 contract

That's what I understand was cited (the government contracts/numbers/prices). If you want more info 'straight from the horse's mouth', I'm sure that Gary or indeed Andrew Swatland might be well placed to discuss it.

Aero A-2 'Unknown Maker' 1756 contract

US government contract details viewed/cited by Gary Eastman in his book on the topic.

Aero A-2 'Unknown Maker' 1756 contract

Sloan, are you suggesting that Perry wasn't the manufacturer? Superficial similarities to some the earlier Werbers yes, but there's documentary evidence to the contrary (but simply not labelled as Perry Sportswear).

Question for all Irvin crasy members. Any Irvin book on the market?

I don't think that it's a question of funding, so much as time to undertake the research. Andrew's a trained historian, so won't put it out before he's entirely happy with the results of the work.

    Aero Leather Clothing trial update

I too am with Paddy and Smithy on this one - unlike many here, I haven't been affected by the reported activities. Perhaps if I had been directly involved I might feel differently, but the clamour and schadenfreude expressed in the posts leaves a sour taste.

Eastman Leather Clothing USAC A-1 Capeskin Flying

As John says, I've had a whole stack of A-1 jackets (from three of the top makers) and won't sell my .50cal now. It's more robust than the stock (untreated) ELC A-1, which is certainly supple and very forgiving of damage, but tough as old boots. It's the repro that I could see being used...

Eastman Leather Clothing RAF Aircrew Jacket "Battle of Britain"

Yes, will do - I've been buying and selling a number of ELC Irvins lately, but I'll put a together a quick montage - not in the Swatland league! I now have a '42 pattern ELC from 1990 (dark hide, dark russet tapes, pale short fleece) in a size 46 and a size 7 (I think) original Links...

Eastman Leather Clothing RAF Aircrew Jacket "Battle of Britain"

My first original Irvin was a 2-panel Links from 1939, which I bought for the same reason (i.e. iconic pattern with likely wartime associations with France and Dunkirk). However, as time has gone on and I've bought and sold/traded different ELC Irvins, I've come to prefer patterns with a greater...

Vintage Irvin Sheepskin Flying Trousers (Size 6) A+ condition.

I thought that the pair of sheepskin trousers that I previously posted (http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?81251-Sheepskin-trousers-by-Irvin-Air-Chute-1941-(size-6-waist-36-38-quot-)&highlight=irvin) manufactured by Irvin Air Chute would be hard to top. However, these are simply...

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

Here is a selection of images of the aforementioned peacoat (taken in direct sunlight). Please note that this is straight out of the parcel (it needs a dry clean and some minor stitching to close up several small openings on the sleeve, the rear neck and the shoulder seams. Nothing serious and...

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

Neither, Mr P (they're plain small and dished - like the profile of USN buttons on a G-1 or M-422) - diameter 0.5". I'm more of a 43" (fall between sizes), so it's just a mite snug...
