Well, the jacket is now in hand (images and details to follow), and I can confirm that it is old - my guess is early 20th century based on the coarseness of the woven fabric and the quilted lining. I used to own a morning coat and waistcoat that was formerly the property of Otto Kahn (dated...
Well some might say that; some might just put it down to A-1 OCD... ;)
I've owned more Type A-1 repros than any other jacket (several 'normal' ELC, half a dozen Good Wear Leather and a lovely custom Bill Kelso) as this is the pattern that I wear most often.
My .50cal is the closest that I've...
Here's my ELC .50cal following a home collar replacement (the original sat too low at the back for my taste).
The original thread showing the collar surgery is here...
May I have some advice on the age of a pea coat please?
I've just pulled the trigger on Ebay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131467360070?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) on what I believe to be a vintage USN pea coat (£25).
It's listed as black, but one of the images...
Thanks for that information Andrew, I think that I've seen that configuration on one of your late war Links jackets on FL (presumably also produced within the same contract).
I particularly like that more vertical panel - makes the jacket appear more elongated, whereas the more common panel...
I really like the pattern of the panels on the accompanying Links jacket.
The more vertically configured chest panel elongates the jacket and looks more balanced IMHO.
Not the rarest jacket maker I know, but I particularly like the Links pattern, length of fleece and rounded collar shape.
Don't fret, these trousers are too good and complete to be sacrificed (the only suitable trousers for 'NOS' jackets are really the ones that are shot with holes or economically beyond repair). They'll be offered for sale soon after I conditioned them and I hope that they'll be snapped up by a...
Just picked up another pair of Irvin trousers. A low res image, but better images will follow.
These look to be in lovely condition (labelled, size 6, all zips present and working, complete with braces).
Dimensions:
Waist is 36-38"
Seat 42-44"
Leg 33.5"
I'm offering this near mint early ELC Battle of Britain Irvin for sale.

Back length 25"
Shoulders 21"
Zip 22"

The hide is incredibly comfortable - lightweight, tough and flexible (much...
Sounds like a typical student residence to me - I was a residential warden for 9 years on campus and if I had a penny for every tale of 'somebody's belongings turning up in somebody else's room'... ;)
Here is a mid-war Irvin (1942 pattern) in very fine wearable condition and near complete (one zip has been replaced with a period Lightning; the other two are double trunion Dot zips); it even retains its original collar strap.
The sheepskin is very supple and the fleece is in excellent...
