Everyone is totally style'in today. Great lids all around. Esther, that's my favorite hat I've seen you in.
Guys, where are those Whippets coming from? Deluxe!
Moon—very nice—it's you.
May as well join the BG CD gang.
"Salts" Growing up, all of my relatives used small, usually ornate, usually colored, glass salt pinches. A tiny bowl to serve salt. I don't know why they went away as I find them more practical as salt dispensers. Particularly in the Summer.
My mother collected them and I have one in use all...
Some great stuff today. You guys (and gal) always amaze me. Always.
tommyK, love that Royal Stetson—particularly the bash. Makes me think of a State Fair back in the day. Like it bunches.
Esther, you bring new life to anything you wear. I like the styling on the band. Unique.
hatsRme, I...
Well, since we're going to space... an interplanetary commuter done in Illustrator with a bit of Photoshop
and my first and only (oil) painting since art school back in the seventies, a wanna-be pulp magazine cover incorporating a tiki in homage to 2001: A Space Oddity.
Esther, lovely, as usual. I'm a bit envious of folks who can don any hat and look great wearing it. You would be one of those.
I bought the missus a large floppy straw for the Summer (very fair skinned) and I think she looks great in it, but she won't wear it. She claims to not like wearing...
Daan is the beret man. I initially bought an inexpensive wool "fashion" beret of unremembered make with an elastic one-size-fits-all headband sewn in. Fit well, looked good, and then went missing.
Next was another inexpensive cotton beret, that I thought would be good for Summer. It too, was an...
Cool! Thanks for that bit of info. Nice link to some Me-109's flying as well!
I remember being a kid and hardly being able to wait for the Saturday matinee to go see The Battle of Britain, in which they were featured. I can't remember how many variants of the 109 I built as plastic models.
Those 109's are powered with Hispano-Suiza motors (hence the exhaust on top and the P-40-like air scoop/chin on the bottom) and built in Spain after the war. The motor changes the whole look IMO.
Edit: Just looked them up. Officially, they're Hispano Aviación HA-1112's. Developed from the Me-109 G.
Brad Bowers: I'm inclined to believe that the first illustration is a layout or comp for client review, to get approval before the final is executed. I get that impression because the typography is not as "polished" and consistent as it might be if that were to be a final rendering. Also, the...
Yup. Fun thread and having gone through the same "fitting" process, I've arrived at the same conclusion. Though, I've got a good bit more forehead grip going on. You look great in yours!
The one with the sweat band will leave a mark across my forehead, the bandless one—no worries of that sort...
Chamuco, you own that Fed like nobody's business.
javadave, that Falcon Park is deluxe and delightful. I dig the color of the band.
Took the modern Whippet out for a stroll yesterday—first time. I like the hat. It's comfortable and compared to my only (2) vintage hats or Akubra, I don't feel...
That is a cool hat. I don't care for an "Open Road" type crease, I don't (or thought I didn't) care for that short a brim, but they look great on that hat. Pretty danged nice. Right color, right everything.
Most people have gotten used to me wearing Panamas all Summer. Throw on a beret and you should see the looks. "Well, well—it's Pierre." "Just get back from Paris?" Etc.
Wow. Just discovered this thread. There's some fantastic talent here! Glad I looked around a little bit.
I see a lot of space photography at work. Alan, the Sun shots are super.
