Thanks, gentlemen.
Moon, I've been taking my cues from you and your CD's (they all look great) as well as everyone else's bashes. You told me early on that I'd enjoy and come to prefer open crowns—and I do.
I'm liking this lid, and like Fruno, I can see it becoming a favorite.
Got a nice compliment from a guy on the bus today who occasionally wears a flat cap. He commented that I always wear real nice hats. He has never run into one of you fellas.
Some very nice finds there fellas. I keep trying. There seems to be a dearth of fedoras in my neck of the woods and everything I like on ebay seems to go for a dear price.
So, I order. And after the obligatory 3-month wait, this one finally showed up. My first time out with it and my first...
Mine showed up on Saturday, silverbelly as well. Nice bash on yours. I'm still a bit undecided what I'm going to do with mine, but I'm leaning towards a center dent with broad pinches. I don't know. Reckon I'll figure it out this evening. Fun dilemma.
Since I became an everyday hat wearer, like most of you, I notice hats. Particularly fedoras. Over the course of the Summer, I noticed straws becoming more popular in the city (DC) as the season wore on. Now I'm starting to see more fedoras. Not many, perhaps one or two a day, but they are...
I have nothing more than a guess: Perhaps it has been soaked (sweat or rain or whatever) and it's caused the fibers to swell and the band has constricted it?
I tried one of those on in a B-more hat shop a couple of weeks ago. Sharp looking hat in an unusual color. With the right accessories (I note your scarf) that hat looks famous. They just wanted too much for in that particular retail setting. Good job.
Thanks, folks. I like to have fun and I had a lot of fun when I was heavily into the tiki culture. I still am, just not to the extent that I used to be.
Frunobulax, that one was done on a Sunday morning with a severe overhang after an evenings bout with the subject matter. I gave it the most...
The Ultra Lounge series from Capital Records label (https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=uultra+lounge&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8#q=ultra+lounge+cd+series&safe=off&tbm=shop) is devoted to the era and has samplers and compilation CD's that are great.
Recovering Tikiphile here. I used to...
Finally figured out how to wear my "band less" beret. Just pull the hat on with the "band" curled-up on the inside, rather than showing on the outside. Makes for a much more relaxed shape and natural look. I'm surprised that it took me until a few weeks ago to "get it."
I can be fairly dense...
Look'in good Richard (in both)! I'm tempted to go for a couple more.
I had a woman compliment me on my beret today—a first. I've been wearing them more often than anything else, lately. It's just too easy and they go with anything. Comfortable too.
I agree with your full sentiment/statement. Totally uncalled for.
Bob, that Fed is my favorite felt that you've shown. Great color and bash—it's you. If I found a hat that looked that good on me, I'd be wearing it most every day.
Edit: Dang, just read through the thread and realize my comment...
Very nice indeed. Immediately one of my favorites. Love the undented and naturally shaped crown, great (most unique) ribbon, color and shape. It's a hit with me.
I bought a '69 4-door, Chevy Biscayne in '74. Straight six, automatic on the tree, AM radio. That car wouldn't spin wheels on loose gravel. Lots of room and I put in some nice Jenson's and 8-track. A party car. Very reliable. Incredibly boring. My family's insurance agent (remember them? And...
