You can purchase a do-it-yourself cashmere dry-cleaning kit from a brand called Dryel. You drop a cleaning packet into a lightweight cloth bag, zip closed and tumble-dry in your home dryer for 15 minutes. I believe you'll find them at larger chain stores and specialty stores like Bed,Bath And...
I did notice that Headwind Leather have now added a Grizzly and a Hercules Moto jacket to their inventory of available leather jackets. I believe Steve S (a member here and on VLJ) is producing these civilian style jackets for Headwind and he's an amazing artisan of leather jacket creation. If I...
Some will say it's not 100% accurate, but the Lost Worlds horsehide A-2 is definitely chrome tanned with a very durable russet finish. They take a long, long time to break in and are as tough as nails.
Does anyone have a photo of the Aero Leathers factory/storefront? It might make the place easier to locate rather than breaking out the ol' staff of Ra and going the Indy route. :p
If you go with scalloped pocket flaps, then I'd add a stencil behind the collar. If you opt for the more modern straight-cut pocket flaps then I'd go plain windflap.
Beautiful jacket Andrew! The seal brown Aero with red knits is my all-time favorite version of the venerable A-2 (one reason why I bought my "ultimate" A-2, an ELC .50 Cal, which is quite reminiscent of the one you have just posted).
Nice! Those LW hides looks awesome after a soak and some wear and tear. My LW goatskin Raider is starting to crease and grain almost as much as my HH A-2. It's a fun break-in process trying to tame a LW hide. And ButteMT61 is right, they are waterproof! :D
I visited their store/factory last August. I spoke with Jessica at length and everything seemed business-as-usual. After spending an hour there looking at and trying on jackets (Jessica was extremely helpful!) I purchased one of their "Raider" jackets (a jacket also known as the G-2). It's a...
I think the red knit-blond collar-seal brown HH is totally unique and thus a winner! It would be completely different from any other jacket iteration out there (and isn't that what we all want?). The black painted zipper that AdeeC mentioned sounds like a great idea to make this particular...
Hi Charles, if you're looking for a special VT-8 artifact, the Smithsonian museum has the M-421 cotton jacket worn by Ensign George Gay (sole survivor of VT-8) on display. It's faded, a bit dirty and quite weathered, but after his exploits at the Battle of Midway, it's amazing that the cloth...
The W&G is a nice bright mahogany/russet brown (like a dark butterscotch color?). It's got a one-piece back, cotton lining, wool knit cuffs & waistband and the buttons are all secured with smaller retaining buttons on the inside (nice touches for an off the rack, lower-priced garment). I've seen...
I just picked up my first A-1 jacket off eBay; it's a Willis and Geiger sized 46 Tall that I scored for $120. Love the design, the fit is perfect for me and the details and workmanship are very nice. I suspect that this may lead to a future A-1 purchase of a more bespoke nature :D
Looks absolutely stunning! Congrats on an awesome jacket. Steve is a real craftsman who takes great pride in his work (and it shows in the finished product).

I'll break out my Canada Goose jacket today (times like these makes me regret selling my Irvin!).
