I almost never knock a hat brand but stay away from the Scala felt hats . They are made in China. All junk. The straws are a different story. Those are American made and are great hats.

Hi Jaimiin ,are you sure you emailed us? i didnt see it. The shipping charge to Australia is usualy around 45.00 for postage. This is by the US postal service Express mail. Its the only way to do it properly otherwise it never gets there. UPS and FEDEX are out of the question. It would cost more...
I know that 100.00 seems like a good deal for a hat today and it is .But I am certain that these hats are NOT made in England . There are probably Tonak felt hats.
Dont expect the deal of a lifetime with these . Even so, the selection on Hornet Hats website is great. Here in the US we barely...
I've never tried the stuff, so I cant recommend it either. What we have tried here are the following cleaning products:
1) Everbloom -Its similar to acetone but much more diluted . We've been using it for years . They have changes the formula recently so its not as strong as before but it seemd...
Habig is a factory that made better hats than /borsalino during the 1970's . We were sorry to see the factory sold.
I am very interested to see the various old Habig hats that Mayserwegner posts online. I dont have that many vintage ones in my collection.

I remember 30 years ago meeting the agent here in the USA for Huckel. They had a wharehouse in New Jersey with thousands of hats. They quality was amazing but they always took a back seat to the other companies because they didnt have a major brand name.

Here is what I can tell you about my good friends at JJ Hats. They do clean and steam hats . The problem is that I doubt you can take a stain out of a lining. You would have to remove it and wash it with a cleaning solvent such as Everbloom cleam fluid .
You can try and rub a little alchohol...
I have to admit that you realy know a lot of information about European hat factories. If Brad ever does a book about hats you should contact him !

Polkap today is a major supplier of hat bodies . The quality is somewhat better than Huckel. I wasnt aware that they were part of the same company at one time. The sort of compaete in the market in the selling of hat bodies.
Mayserwegner, I like those Huckel signs...
Brad is right. I dont think there is another way to mend the felt. I have a few bowlers that have minor cracks. There isnt much to do with them.

We had a hat similar to that a few seasons ago by Stetson. The problem was that the crown was so low, it didnt fit right. The crown is less than 4 inches .

As far as I know, the bodies used used by Tesi such as Parabuntal ,sisol and balibuntal are from the far east. Buku as no longer made . As far as being weaved by hand, I doubt it although every delivery seems to come in different. The quality is getting to be less and less.
What Borsalino...
I dont think Crambes makes felt hats. I have a recent catalog from them and I'm sure that the hats are made by Tonak.
But I could be wrong......

Keep posting new pics. i just bought two more hats! One was an Adam hat made in Italy. I never knew that Adam made some of their hats there. It was under the Bianchi section.

I just purchased a few hats from the site. They are mostly smaller sizes but there are a few 7 3/8 in there. trust me , the quality on most of these hats are far better than what is made today. Even the basic Adam hats that sold for 5.00 back in the 1950's are great hats...
Brad, I've been aiting a long time to see Stetson or any other manufacturer spend a nickel on advertising. I have sat in a few meeting with the "brass" of these companies and have given them my suggestions. The bottom line is it never happens.
But I think the new owners are motivated to try...
Lefty, the Stetson Ermine would be my holy grail of hats to have. I think only 10 or 20 were ever made. A while ago one popped up on the bay. The seller wanted a lot of money for it. It was a size 6 7/8. I offered 1000.00 and was turned down.
