Thanks for showing that ad Jimmy. I dont know how many of these hats the store sold. I was told that they made only 10 of them. It was part of a series of hats but they only made one set due to the price of the hat.

I'm still waiting for someone to show pics of a Stetson Ermine from the late 1930's. I believe this was the finest production hat that Stetson ever made. I've seen one listed on Ebay once a few years ago.

Homburgs are much easier to find today than bowlers. Borsalino , Cervo Mayser and Biltmore still make a decent homburg. The problem is there is little demand for them outside of the Orthodox Jewish market and the black market.
We just received a new Dobbs homburg made in a suede finish that...
I'm not concerned at all. I think that he may have a lot of interesting things we hat lovers would love to see on the lounge. I have bought some interesting hat books from them as well as some old hat catalogs in the past few years. But they are very secretive as to where they are and what they...
I am very curious as to who Petitour is. I've bought and compeated agaist him on Ebay over the past few years on many hat related items. I've emailed him a few time . Appearently they have some kind od "hat foundation " with many interesting items. More than that I dont know. But I am very...
It is . The Temple is a dimensional brim at 2 3/8" by 2 5/8" The Desoto is around 2 1/2" even . A nice hat but not needed as the Temple is just about the same in looks.

Dorfman Pacific is the agent fo Christys here in the USA. The line os very different than what is sold in the UK. There, the hats are mainly made by Tonak while here the selection is much different.

Dorfman Pacific does get their better straws made in the USA. There is a factory in MA that makes decent straw hats. The reason is that China cant make a decent straw hat yet. They also make the straws for Capas , TLS and a few others. Stick to the grade 3-4 and grade 8's from Scala. The others...
Their quality and trimming are top notch. I really hope they can survive this time. The last few months have been a problem for the factory. They were closed for some time due to a lack of financing. Biltmore is the last local factory that will customize a hat to the stores request. They have...
The hat looks to be American made. The quality from the 1950's was fantastic on some of the USA made hats. There was little reason to buy Italian made hats until the USA companies started to go out of business.

If anyone is looking fo a similar style of the Whippet in a better hat, look at the Stetson Brewster. Its made of panama straw with a bound edge. The problem is that there is a shoertage of goodstraw bodies and these hats are almost sold out . Once they are gone, thats it for this summer...
The hat looks to be made of wool. Judging by the printing on the sweatband, the hat was probably made by Bollman as they produce most of the wool licensing items for the USA.
I've never seen one of them before.

When Dorfman started the Scala brand , the hats were made in the USA by Bollman. Then they were produced in the Czek Republic by Tonak. When that became too expensive, they went to China for the fur felts. Howevr, from what I was told , that was a disaster as the quality control is terrible .Who...
The Borsalino Beaver is a really nice hat . Is is worth 475 .00? I think Art makes a better hat at a lower price point but we sell a lot of the Beavers because of the Borsalino name. It looks pretty good too.

I remeber when I was 10 years old going into the back of my fathers store. We had dozens of those Borsalino boxes. 480 Euros--wow!!!

The one hat that poped up on Ebay was owner by a military man if I remeber correctly. I have to look in my collection of Hat Life magazines to find the ad for the hat.
I'm sure that this was a fantastic hat.
