I put a repro Thunderer on my Eastman Star Sportswear A-2. I was in a bit of a dilemma: some pilots attached it to the right side (so did I), but some attached it to the left, that is, the hook. The problem is that the hook is on the inside of the jacket, so it only works if the collar is turned...
That's exactly the question I've been asking myself since the day I got my Eastman pinks. Not sure they would work with jeans, they look too...military.
Someone mentioned a very good analogy here: guitars vs jackets. I treat my A-2 exactly like I treat my Martin acoustic. It's an expensive object that will hopefully last decades, or a lifetime. Therefore, I try to keep as good care of it as possible. I don't go around and abuse it, like some...
Definitely! I'll be there on Saturday in officers' pinks and my A-2 :) The lack of P-51 Mustangs on the official website is starting to worry me though.
Thanks for the pics! Agreed, size 40 fit you better. I'm slightly taller than you (6 feet, 75 kg) an I spent 2 hours trying on a Star 40 and a 42, but went for the 40 at the end, because the 42 was too baggy in the shoulders and torso. Slightly more comfy, but not the way I imagined it should...
My girlfriend really loves my Irvin, and she says she would love to have a sheepskin flying jacket too. There's a twist though: she's not such a fanatic as me, and 1000 USD is way above her price range. Can you recommend a cheap alternative?
As a plan B I might buy her a B-17 jacket, probably...
I'm taking my girlfriend to Duxford flying legends. I'll be dressed in pinks and an A-2 ,so I thought I'd surprise her with a beautiful 1940s dress that she could wear. Problem is: I have no idea where to find one. Any recommendations please?
Thanks,
Greg
Thanks all, very good points, I really needed these. You're absolutely right: I'd rather it fit me in the sleeves like this than be too baggy/ long elsewhere. These are not tailor made jackets, but Army issue ones, and people have different height/ weight/ muscles/ body ratio, etc...
Anyhow...
