I just got my size 8 replacement. The fit is OK, but the stitching is already coming apart and one of the fingers is sewn twisted....I'm quite disappointed but I don't want to spend any more time and/or money on SOF by returning it.
Great comparison pictures, thank you! The more info I get the more I'm sure I HAVE TO try and check them in person... counting the days until the popup store :)
The glider photos were taken in an R-26 "Góbé", and the ones in the other thread, wearing an irvin in an IS28B2. The one where I'm...
Hypothetically speaking, if I don't find an Eastman that I like in the popup store, and I go with an Aero Bronco, what options should I go for?
Color:
I don't like light russet, but nearly black jackets either. Their "seal" is the same as Eastman's "seal"?
Leather:
Jerky vs Vicenza - what's...
In short: yes.
I own one. It looks pretty close to the real deal, the only downside is the quality. Expect some wartime rushed production model with not 100% correct and accurate stitching and lining. This being said, I would buy one again if mine got stolen.
Beware: they say you need a size...
If it was lambskin I would we worried it would peel off, but as it's horsehide...no sweat.
It will eventually gather more dings and "weathering", and that's what will make this jacket unique, YOUR jacket, not like the rest of them.
This being said you would be absolutely right to return it and...
What a jacket, and at what price! I've always wanted a G-1. I once tried on a size 40 Cockpit 100 mission G-1, and it was just perfect. Are you saying this one is not only cheaper but actually better?
I'm afraid they suggested incorrectly.
Baggy, modern-ish fit:

Trim, WWII fit:

It is based on original patterns when it was re-introduced...
Their Reissue A-2 ot their WWII Government issue A-2? They are very different cuts.
I owned a "reissue" and it was a very modern, baggy cut. Now I have a WWII gov. and it's much, much trimmer.
Also, I see that now it's available in 2 colors:
mahogany - I guess this is mine, very dark brown
brown - their customer service says it's russet. The pictures on the website are horrible, I can't really tell how dark/ light it is. It would be great to see some photos.
@Big J , that was me:

It may look trim and all that when I'm wearing only a T-shirt underneath and I'm standing in attention, but I'm wearing it today with a light sweater and I can barely lift/ move my arms :/
Anyhow, I can still...
I used to own a reissue A-2 goat, the fit was horrible! Like those big sweaters in the 90s...
I own a WWII government issue horsehide now and it's a fairly decent fit. Not baggy at all, au contraire!
I ordered a pair of officer's gloves from SOF Military. Their customer service told me size "S" corresponds to size 8. So I went for it. The gloves are beautiful and exactly what I'm after, but the label reads "S/7", and they are a size too small :( I contacted the customer service, and they...
It's very interesting to have such a database of measurements. This being said, it made me even more unsure about my size. I can't wait to visit their popup store in November, trying on a jacket is worth more than a 1000 hours of research on the internet.
It does look like the Eastman one, but a darker color. The Dent looks exactly like the one I would like, but it's well out of my budget :(
Many sites only list "S" and "M" and such, but how do I know how it translates to inches?
I found 2 that look quite good to me, with a serious price difference though. Anyone has any experience with these?
