Despite the cold weather I've been trying to wear my Star A-2 as much as possible in order to break it in. I also gave it a very gentle shower (it didn't get soaked), and wore it while it dried. As a result of the above, now I have no doubt size 40 is my size, it got much more comfortable in the...
Can you please define "wash"? There are some threads circulating about the positive effect of having a shower in your jacket then wearing it while it dries. Did the same with my HH A-2, and it got more comfortable - although it appears to be a tad stiffer now.
I would like to add that apart from the waist the jeans fit me perfectly, and going down to size 31 would be too tight in all other areas according to measurements.
Hi,
I bought a pair of Lee 101 Rider selvage jeans, size W32 L34 - a size that is usually a perfect fit. The jeans arrived, and it would be the perfect pair, if only the waist wasn't a little too large. approx 1-1.5 inches too large. Is there a way to shrink them to fit me better without losing...
I'm no expert at all, really, but according to the pictures I've seen the later an Irvin was made the more parts it was made of. Eastman's 3 different models seem to confirm this:

The one on the picture seem to match the middle...
Ditto...I don't understand what makes you say it's big. It's a perfect fit. If it was any more slim fit you couldn't move, and it would look ridiculous. It's an awesome jacket, wear it in good health!
I'm looking at buying an officer's pink shirt. What are my options?
Eastmans look great, but I'm afraid they ran out of stock
SoF has them, but the pockets are not arched
WPG has them but looks a bit too dark and not as good a SoF
Spearhead militaria also has them but they have dark buttons...
Beautiful gloves, congratulations! Thanks for the pictures too. I'm jealous a bit, I've been secretly wanting a pair since I tried them at the popup store in November, but I still can't swallow that price tag. They are really comfy and warm, though.
My officer's pinks just arrived from SoF.
The bad:
It has a zipper fly rather than buttons
It's not 100% cavalry twill, far from it
The good:
It's sturdy
It has a zipper fly - so much more convenient!
Great color
Very comfy
Fits as if it was tailor made, or better!
I'm very happy with it, and...
A little update, my ELC 1942 summer flying gloves just arrived with the post. Perfect fit, wonderful craftmanship. Really, the bee's knees. If the weather permits I'm going flying this Sunday, I can't wait to get them dirty in the cockpit! :)
A friend of mine works at an Air Force base in Hungary. He told me that there's a Major who is looking to sell his old 1982M flying jacket, because they have new regulation jackets now and he cannot wear this one anymore. It was used from the 80s to the 90s. I immediately said YES! I bought it...
OK, I narrowed it down to 2 choices: Eastman pinks or SoF pinks. Eastman is a bit outside of my budget, but I'm afraid to pay less for something that's not that good. Oh well, SoF has a good returns policy, so I guess I'll give those a try first. Does anyone has any experience with SoF pinks?
Anyone wears Dr.Marten's boots? I wasn't a fan before I tried one on, but BOY are they comfortable! It's like walking on a bed of roses, and there are plain brown leather ones too. Not necessary to wear one of the crazy purple/ green ones.
Another alternative came up, the OD51 pants:

Isn't it what George Preddy is wearing on this picture?
