Wow, Jitterbugdoll, great find! 1940s shoes for $25!
Most of the best bargins I've had have been off ebay, cause things are just so cheap as over here in the Uk you would expect to pay between £40 and £50 for a dress and about the same price for a pair of shoes, and thats if you can...
I have a a hat that came with some feathers that unfortunatly are very thin and are breaking, so i was wondering if anyone knew where the best place is to buy feathers, or ostrich feathers (the fluffy sort?) in unusual colours? The ones in there before were blue and red (its a navy hat), so i...
This picture below just shows the major difference in styles, even in a few years. I don't think that any one style can suit everybody so we are quite lucky that we can pick and mix what era's we collect and wear. But if you had been living in the 20's you couldn't have worn 40's clothing (if...
Those photos weren't from a book, I think I found them somewhere on the interent a while back, but they are so lovely and show of the utility look perfectly!
Funnyly enough I really love the little puff sleeve dresses, I think it is quite funny how it went from a really girly look with the...
I know what you mean if you are talking to someone who has really bushy(mono-brow/uni-brow!!) eyebrows it is a distration as you will start to stare at them! Not in a horrible way but shaped eyebrows ALWAYS look better, especially if the are very dark. But then the other extreme is over...
I love the 40's, I got into collecting vintage clothes by being dragged along to militaria shows since i was little, until I saw a 40's fashion show at a show called War and Peace, it showed styles from the 30's and late 40's but mainly focused on the looks of wartime Britain and after seeing...
Wouldn't it be lovely to find an estate sale of full of all famous designer pieces of the era, (that no-one else knew about!!:D ) Also where did all the gorgeous clothies from the movies go, all of the outfits and accessories were to die for!
So what is that dream item that you have been all looking for, but never seem to find (or simply goes for silly money! )?
Mine has to be a has to be a hawain dress and a pair of cute white wedges, gotta love those comfy 40's wedges! (But white is so not a practical colour! )
I'm surprised that things are short on you, i thought I had a problem with the length just becuase I was tall but i surpose if you have long legs it will affect were the hem hits your legs.
I have the most amzing 'New Look' skirt, it is black and is tightly pleated, just like the Dior style...
I'm about 5'10"-11" tall and I have been quite lucky, especially with suits, but then you will always get that perfect dress that will just not fit quite right! :rage:
A problem i have is, cause I have such long legs, the hem is sometimes too short, so where do you reakon the hems on dresses...
Wow, there are so many different opinions!
I have a couple of furs that have there faces and glass eyes and the little claws, which kinda freaks me out a little, but then thats what the wore in the 40's so it just finishes an outfit off, and as other people have said they have been dead for...
That dress is so cute!!:) I especially like the hat!
Yes, thats the outfit in my avator. i actually wore this in the afternoon, but it was so, so hot i had to go home and get changed (i only live down the road so it wasn't to bad)
I especially like persian (or curly) lamb trims on anything! Coats, muffs, hats, boots it all looks good! I don't know the method of how this was made, does anyone else?
I also like jefory cat (is that what its called?), it looks a bit like leopard, aswell, but prices for it sky rocket on ebay...
