Wow I love the yellow and the red, there are some colour combinations that you would never think of puting together, but go together oh-so well!
Yep, red and blue go fabulous together, I have a navy blue suit (the type with out a collar and just 1 button at the waist) that i'm going to wear...
I recently got two gorgeous 40's evening dress, one red and the other black with studs, they seriously are fabulous they fit every curve and were made to look stunning! They were however NOS (great!) abd had the price tag of $15.99 each!! Very pricey for dresses of the day!!
There is always alot of talk about fur these days, so i was wondering what the other ladies on here think of it?
I personally think that if it is vintage then it is alright to wear, as it was killed over 60 years ago for someone to wear it, so it shouldn't go to waste. However I don't...
Thanks ever so much for posting these picture, i have a couple of red suits but i was always stuck with what to wear with them, I only thought that black would be the best thing to go, but grey look fab! So i'm gonna start looking for grey accessories this summer!
I LOVE the white hat with...
I have 2 pairs of purple shoes, one pair that are really chuky platforms, very 40s and are made of purple leather! The other pair are slightly more elegant, having no platform just a nice chunky 40's heel!! And are made out of purple snakeskin and suede, those were really quite cheap, i bought...
Hi
I can't seem to see your pictures Jitterbugdoll!:(
Anyway a purple hat sounds fab, espicially if you could get a dress with green and purple in it! I have a dress that is kelly green with a few purple flowers on it and the colours go great together!:D
And about getting shoes if you...
I agree with every thing you say!!
I seem to go between a 26"-28" throughout the year and have no trouble finding things!:D But I'm a 34" bust and sometimes find that suits will fit perfectly on the waist but will be massive on the bust!!:rage:
I also spend about an hour getting ready, but...
2. Another good reason to wear reproductions: Guilt-free period style! Wearing original vintage clothing ultimately reduces the life of the garment. And with all original artifacts, once it's gone, it's gone. We tend to think of 1930s-50s stuff as "vintage" but anything over 50 years old is...
I have only a couple of pairs of modern shoes, as I would rather spend money on a good pair of oh-so stylish 40's shoes that are made to last than a pair of modern shoes made out of plastic that will last all of about 2 minutes and will hurt my feet!!:rage:
Oh, size 7 wedges......
Anyways I adore the first two pairs especially the gold ones!!:D And I just have some sort of love for black 40's shoes, i must have about 6-7 pairs just cause they are just so cute and so different! Thats the best thing about vintage clothing you will...
I know what you mean! Because I'm tall the high waisted pants just flow (but they have to be long anough, otherwise they look stupid!! ) So I much prefere the style, plus cause they are loose they don't cling to the tops of my legs and make them look like tree trunks!!:rage:
Caledonia, I love the CC41 shoes, how cute! What size are you as I can't seem to find any cute CC41 wedges above a size 4!!!!:rage:
Also the white pair you have are WWII Women marine shoes, i've got a pair to they are fab, but I have yet to wear them!!:D
Over here in the UK your look at atleast £35-£40 for the most granny looking 40's shoes, and a lot more for nice pairs! And thats if you can find them!!
I'm the same, I have an hourglass shape, which i think is very good when wearing padded shoulders (a la 40's!) with nipped in waists! I can't how ever do the 20's clothing as the dresses end up being to snug!!
I'm also long-waisted and it is always some thing fabulous that comes along and...
I totally agree 1940s clothing was made so much better and was made to LAST! Something you don't hear alot today, sometimes you wear things once and then there ruined!!:rage:
I do think they only thing about vintage clothes is how fragile there are, but there is nothing else I can...
For the summer i bought a pair of safari style shorts from Marks and Spencers over here, there are brown and come slight above the knee, but you can also roll and botton them up to make them shorter!!
I do love the 40's styles though, so cute!!!
