I recieved today the most gorgeous house coat/evening coat I have ever seen! It is red and green brocade with a green velvet trim on the collar, cuffs and buttons and it is just super, it also fits me and is super long reaching the floor on me and i'm around 5'10"!!:D But there is also the...
Be careful of widths in vintage shoes though and make sure you always get the measurements as sometimes it can be so annoying when shoes arrive that are just too small!:rage:
I got my pair of Remix wedges through today, and i'm so, so pleased with them! I got exactly the right size, leather is so soft and the padded soles and colour is great!! And the best part is i got them off the seller on ebay who had a batch of them and manged to get this pair for around $45...
I'm thinking its more late 50's maybe 60's, especially if its British, as clothing was still rations till the beginning of the 50's so this much beading probably wounld have been allowed till later, and probably not thelate 40's like in the US.
Here is a picture of the wedding dress:
The whole outfit was fairly cheap actually the dress was about $40 and the headpiece which is gorgeous, it is a Art Deco shape made of out cream and oyster coloured seed pearls, was only $10!!!!
Cute shoes, but very, very narrow, just like most 30's shoes!!
The wedding shoes i got are a size 9, but they are AAAA width!! I have narrow feet and normally fit into shoes either with 3 or 4A's, but they were still a little tight on me, being deadstock!!
I got this set in the post today it is so lovely! Apparantly the lady who owned it was a pilots wife, and was very tall at 5'10" which is great which means its long enough!:D
I'm hoping to wear it with a black skirt from one of my suits, but i could also wear it with black swing pants or a...
I wore a 40's wedding dress in a fashion show last year and I managed to get the shoes off ebay for a whopping $0.99! They were NOS and were a lovely shade of white/creamy satin perfect and they fitted!:)
So it is worth keeping an eye out on ebay!
I have no idea why either! 40's chunky heels have got to be the most comftable ever! I think my feet have adjusted to 40's shoes as well as all the modern shoes i wear (flat pumps) rub like hell, i wore a pair yesterday and have now got blisters everywhere!:(
I have 40's shoes that go from a...
I love that outfit, along with all the other outfits in the Aviator! I think 40's high waist pants are so flattering and look so smart when team with a nice blouse, sweater or jacket!:D
Ebay is a great place to find wedding dresses, i got one off there that i wore in 1940's fashion show but you have to be careful of the measurements, especially the length, and if there are any underarm stains!
I also like 'The Land Girls' with Anna Friel, not very true to life and not many 'real' land girls like it! But the clothes are nice and it is worth watching for the storyline!!
Thanks for all the links and suggestions i don't know about getting them off the internet or seeing if I can find any places that sell them near me?
Etienne, that store sounds great, but a little to far for me! I wish I could find something similar a little bit closer!
I love some of their jewellery! I got some a Christmas at a big department store in the sale, but had never seen that make before that!! I don't particulary like pieced earrings, but i think that they even had some with clip backs??
Anyways you still can't beat good-old vintage clip-ons they...
Thanks!!:)
Thats what I think is great about vintage clothing there is a style to suit everyone, unlike today when one style ges for all! And lets just say hipsters and mini skirts DON'T suit everyone!;)
Wow! That really was a bargin and what a profit too! I suppose that not a lot of rubber has survived unperished from the 40's so thats why they get such high prices!
