Off topic, and maybe I'm behind the times, but as I recall, back in the day, part of these types of charities mission was to teach people basic repair skills. Do they not do that anymore?
   Ok, at least I know the Goodwill near me doesn't do that, but I never thought to ask the Value Village or St. Vin's. I'll make sure I put a bug in their ear about that. I didn't know you could ask them to hold specific items if they get them. I'll have to be sure to ask the...
Fine minds think alike, that's what I was going to do. Trying to do a search for a "dial" on ebay keeps turning up dials attached to phones or ones that are no where near what I need. I'll keep looking, but in the mean time I had decided that I'll probably get one with a dial and get the...
I drive a bus in Seattle, we actually have both. For most passengers, it's the pull cord. The tape is only on the underside of the fold-up front seats for use by people in wheel chairs. The seat folds up, they are strapped in next to it and can easily reach the yellow push tape...
The OP question and your response brings to mind this quote:
"The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there..." Leslie Poles Hartley (30 December 1895 – 13 December 1972) from his book The Go-Between (1953).
I haven't updated this thread recently. I have these over in the yard sale thread, but may as well post it here too:
Craigslist finds:
WE D-Type w/subset, circa 1935. I want to put a period correct dial in it and get a subset that will work with it.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some guys are. Uh, it's a DATING site, you have a RIGHT to be "discriminating"?
Well darn, I wish I was 30ish again, I'd fly to Sweden in a heart beat!
The "guts" (chassis, the outer part is the cabinet or shell) were probably removed for capacitors and other useable electronic parts, including the tubes. Not sure what you did with the non-functioning insides (chassis) of the Admiral, but if you tossed it, shame on you!
Since all you have...
Sunbeam T-9 toaster
I normally work weekends so I don't get to yard sales much, but had today off, so I took advantage and hit at least a couple in the area. I'm normally not into kitchen stuff because I don't cook, not even toast, but I made an exception for this item since it's art deco. It...
They cut out some stuff in that link, even the song. The version I've been watching (over and over) is this one. It has the full song and the lyrics also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY
Craigslist finds:
WE D-Type circa 1935:
PTT, (Dutch) circa mid-60s? Works, only needed a jumper to get it to ring:

And an actual thrift store find, Stromberg Carlson from 1971. Only $1.99 and it works...
It was fairly plain that she had a voice coach, but that was perfectly ok with me. You don't learn to develop natural talent like that singing in the shower. She had me in tears.
As for her "makeover", doesn't really matter, as long as they don't try to overdo it by putting her in skimpy...
