Well, that's not the actual blender, just a picture I googled that closely matched. As a FL family member, if you want it, I'll go get it (it's been there a few months, I'd be surprised if it's gone) and ship it to you at cost. The one I saw did not have a bowl. I'll plug it in and make sure...
You're right, it doesn't. The conversation simply strayed to another subject. In the context of the situation (I was there, but it's too involved to try to relay in this thread), his advise made perfect sense.
Is it? Ok, I defer to the more commonly used term. Nobody in my circle of friends and acquaintances does much on eBay. I had to show a lady friend how to bid and search on eBay, so I just invented my own term.
Some of the phones I see are just as much in regards to the shipping, but I factor that into the max I'm willing/able to pay and bid accordingly. e.g. using the one that I mentioned that just ended as an example, shipping was $10 to Seattle. I was only willing to spend $80, so my max bid was...
Yup, been doing that, CL and eBay. It's safe now to tell you the pic I posted was a pic from a live auction on the latter, but has now closed. It went for $132.00 + shipping, is that too much? It was for me, I quit when it started getting over $80. I factor in the cost of shipping with the...
Thanks for the link. I'm with you on not trying to build the tone pad myself. If/when I ever need one, I was going to try and contact the author and see how much he would want to sell one for, if he was so inclined.
Most of the ones I've seen do not come with the original ringer box, but I've been told you can get a modern equivalent for $15. That would be acceptable for me, I can still hunt around for a vintage ringer box.
Touch-tone menus when using a rotary, a solution
Here's an article I found on how to hook up a touch-tone pad to your rotary so you can still press 1 for this, that, or the other w/o having to hang up and call from one of them new-fangled touch tone phones:

I've been bitten...
...by the vintage phone bug. To the point where I want to learn to fix them myself. Has anybody here learned to work on them? The electronics don't seem to be too difficult.
Soon as I get one, I'm going to have a land line hooked up. I checked with the two phone...
Sunbeam Mixmasters eh? I saw one today in a thrift store, $10 price tag and it just said "works" on the tag. I believe it's a 1950s model, as I remember one Mom had just like it when I was growing up in the late 50s and 60s. It was very much like this one, including the condition, maybe...
Tell me about it! One two separate occassions, I've t-boned two vehicles with a bus who's drivers were babbling away on a cell and decided to make a right or left turn across my lane! Fortunately nobody was hurt either time.
Funny I should find this thread. I was just going to search for a...
Know anything about rugs?
Hall runners to be specific. I had been wanting to get one for my small apt but was appalled at the prices of new ones. I found this one at a Goodwill for a more reasonable price. 7'8"x2', it was tagged as a "collectible". Not sure why, there's no label on it.
Funny, when I was in my early 20s, one bit of advice a pastor gave to young men in his church who were courting is to surprise your lady friend with an unannounced visit, preferably early in the morning. Why? He said you need to see her w/o her makeup, hair done, and not all dolled up at least...
I only vaguely remember that movie. I've added it to my Netflix que. Reading the description, I'm now about the same age as the character, difference being I'm not trapped by a smothering mother. To the contrary, Mom lives 4 hrs away, but she's very sweet and a real kick to be around, and...
Too hard to choose, but I liked what I saw when I re-watched "Chariots of Fire" recently. Classy, distinct, and vintage w/o looking "costumey".
P.S. Thanks for the movie titles, I was able to add a few of them to my Netflix que.
Should I tell you how many times I've been in thrift stores and left empty-handed and peeved at all the "Made In China" crap on the shelves?
Here's what I found today a St. Vincent de Pauls:
