    Vintage Phones

Most of the phones I have fully function, yes. The most common problem encountered with old phones is everything functions except that it doesn't ring, and usually that's because it has what's called a "frequency ringer", which were used in old party line phones. Your only choice in that case...

No doubt made in China then. But I like it well enough it can stay for now.

    Vintage Phones

One of my latest finds. Manufacture date 6-61. It was dirty but cleaned up very well, no discolorations, fully functions. The finger wheel had a stick-on number card on it. When I removed the finger wheel to clean it, I found a vintage number card underneath the finger wheel (where it's...

Found this today at a thrift store. I can't vouch for its age, but the scene depicted is certainly vintage, I'm guessing 30s from the vehicles. It's mounted on a wood frame covered with burlap.

How to use real vintage phones on your cell phone line

I have the XLink hooked up as a line in to a PBX. That turns the PBX into a bluetooth, then I can plug in 8 phones if I wanted to. (But I only have two because all the phones plugged in will ring in numerical order, starting with the cell phone). Works fine. Cons on the XLink - You'll get...

    San Francisco 1906

Seems almost surreal. Bowler hats seemed to be quite popular then. As a bus driver, the lack of traffic controls scares the bejeezus out of me

    San Francisco 1906

I got the year wrong, pardon me. Filmed in 1906 according to this link: http://www.flixxy.com/san-francisco-1905-historical-footage.htm

Hobson's Choice (1954) Charles Laughton, John Mills, Brenda De Banzie. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

    Mystery furniture

That's interesting. Yeah, saw all kinds of them in Google images. Looks like somebody's "OMS" project (Oh Maybe Someday) that they never finished. This gal uses her's for an end table:

    Mystery furniture

Came across this vintage-looking piece of furniture in a St. Vinnies. Interesting looking, but I couldn't figure out what it's purpose was, and had no practical use for it. It seems to sit too low to be a desk, but it appears to be a work bench of some sort.

What art is in your home?

Went hunting for more decor for my humble abode. First stop was a huge antique mall in the sodo district. Found Parrish's "Daybreak" in a bat-winged frame, but for $395, I passed. The frame had stress cracks on each corner anyway. Didn't spend much time there because it was already 2pm and...

What art is in your home?

I've seen the "Spirit of Adventure" at an antique mall near me. I almost got it, but must have hesitated because of the price. Like the author of the blog you linked to, I'm cheap! Maybe I'll change my mind if it's still there.

What art is in your home?

The artist is in the lower left, but I can't read it. I don't think it's Parrish, but looks very similar to his style. Thanks for the link, I googled around for prints and compared prices, I got a fairly good deal, considering it was framed. I also got sticker shock at what some places...

What art is in your home?

Thanks for filling me in on who the artist is, I really didn't know. I remember seeing that painting online somewhere but there was no information with it. Also got this calendar from 1932:

Also got this while I was there too. Everything was 25% off, so I came away with several pieces of art.

What art is in your home?

Unintentional match I picked up a piece of art at an antique store and when I hung it beside another one, I couldn't help but notice the similar colors and they were both set at the same time of day. The one with the boat is called "Day's End", and the other is "Ocean Sunset". I picture...
