    Post New Hats Here!

Found this gray Dobbs ('50s?) at a vintage store yesterday for $16. Size 7 1/2.

    Gorgeous '30s-'40s 3-piece Tuxedo, 38-40

This is spoken for, pending payment. Rachael, a few others PMed me ahead of you; I'll let you know if they decide to pass on it.

    Gorgeous '30s-'40s 3-piece Tuxedo, 38-40

There's a good two inches to let the hems down, if that's what worries you. Maybe even two and a quarter!

    Gorgeous '30s-'40s 3-piece Tuxedo, 38-40

This is pretty much my dream tuxedo, and I'm heartbroken it doesn't fit me. But it's just too small, and nothing will change that. So I'm offering it up for sale. It's from the late '30s or '40s, judging by the style and construction. Probably from the '40s, given the lapel width. But there...

    WTB: Formal accessories

I'm in a wedding in July, for which we'll be wearing white tie. I have a line on a tailcoat and trousers; now I just need the accessories. If you happen to have any formal accessories laying around that you want to part with, I'd be interested. I'm a 41R, 16" neck, 33" shirt sleeve, 11-11.5...

    What are you wearing today??

Nice, Alan. What is that suit? I love the way the lapels roll. The T&A tie is great, too. I find lots of ties with that pattern in thrift stores, but none of them have that kind of body.

    What are you wearing today??

Thanks, guys! It was positive. Nobody knows what a stroller is, but everyone seemed to enjoy seeing me more dressed up than usual. :) It's blue. I'm not as much of a stickler for gray-only ties with a stroller as I am with full morning dress.

    Deckard & Newcastle

From what I've seen, I'd put it as "Your one-stop source for small armscyes and hardy fabrics in a handful of vintage-looking styles that reflect the proprietors' tastes." Not that there's anything wrong with that. I like some of the styles I've seen so far, and I approve of both proper fit...

    What are you wearing today??

A bit draggled by the rain, but here's me in the stroller I wore to celebrate the opening of the newly remodeled store where I work. Formal stripe trousers with high waist and brace back Black SB, notch-lapel jacket Dove gray DB waistcoat White, collar-attached shirt (I was going to...

    Creating a button hole

I would either make sure you know how to do a proper buttonhole stitch, or wait until a tailor can do it for you. I would not want to ruin a lapel by doing something irreversible like that. In the meantime, does your tailcoat have peak lapels? If so, consider the solution shown by Mr...

    Impeccable suit from 1926

I think you're right. It was just the closest thing I had readily at hand in my photo archives. :)

    Impeccable suit from 1926

Now you need a tunic shirt and a nice, high, stiff collar.

    Impeccable suit from 1926

Man, that's some wide button stance. Looks sharp!

    What are you wearing today??

Love the stroller, Alan. Well done.

    Mens Warehouse

This is certainly true, but what you may not realize is that truly high-quality fabric has a much higher number of wearings in its life than the cloth that is found in most off the rack suits--especially those that a place like Men's Wearhouse sells (suits for $100-400 in the US). With...

    Formal Wear Primer

Brooks does still have them, and any sales associate can get one for you.

    Brooks Brothers "Fitzgerald"

They're higher than the other two Brooks fits, but not like a vintage jacket. The highest armholes Brooks has to offer, for what it's worth, are on the Country Club double-breasted blazer. Still not like a vintage jacket, though.

    Poll: Changing Seasons

I like traditions, I frequently argue in their favor here, and, like Sunny, I would like to abide by them. In an ideal world, I'd have a closet full of wool fresco suits and lightweight felt hats to wear when the temperature is up but the summer season hasn't started yet. But I don't. So I...

    Boater faction!

Thanks. The band is the primary reason I went for that boater.
