    Whedon off WonderWoman movie

It really is too bad that Firefly and Serenity were not better received. I did quite enjoy both. We seem to be a fans of several now defunct series. We very much like Farscape and thought the Peacekeeper Wars was a good but not great finale.

Does anyone find that vintage clothing is more comfortable then modern clothing?

I find that fit and fabric vary enough in any period that I can't say that vintage is more comforatable. I would say that I find most vintage off the rack clothing to be better made than what we see today. I have the impression that the clothing was made to last, while much of today's clothing...

    Just bought my first iron

Thank you. Interesting you should choose this link. Thanks to hand washing and pressing I still have three Kabbaz shirts from his old shop on Madison Avenue. Lately I have been buying my shirts from Carl Goldberg at CEGO.

    La Vie En Rose

Thanks for the link. I haven't been to see a movie in the theaters in years, but I'll likely be lined up to see this one as soon as it opens in our area...

    Just bought my first iron

How did you learn? How ever did you all learn to use an iron? I just recently purchased what is supposed to be an excellent iron with all the bells and whistles. From time to time I will attempt to learn and to iron my own shirts so they will last longer. Unfortunately I cannot buy shirts...

    Suspenders or belts?

Suspenders or braces, like pocket squares and ties, should pick up some higlight / color from the rest of your outfit but, IMHO, matching suspenders and tie, etc. should be avoided. I can not remember the name of the movie, but it reminds me of a character who described his coordinating...

    The shoulder belt

My solution to the rubbing on my jackets was to hang the jacket (rear passenger side of the truck). Don't have a solution for the ties since I wear bows...

    Middle Eastern Headgear

Alan, Thank you. There can certainly be some confusion. Even within the Gulf the traditional headdress will differ not only by name (Arabic as a language differs considerably by region) but the style and manner of fitting and wearing the ghutra and igaal (for our purposes lets use the Saudi...

    Loungers' Pets

They certainly can be a handfull. Far too intelligent to be layabout house pets. These two guided upland game hunts for serveral years before retiring to Beacon Hill. I've since moved to one of those new loft developments in East Boston. Much more space, high ceilings and wide open views...

Is it just me or the vintage style?

Quite right. Nothing at all wrong with the bottle blondes. I should have qualified that with "the negative stereotype of a bottle blonde". Conversations with a few of these young women was quite disappointing, and their fashion sense seems to come from the worst of pop music and teen...

    Cursive at the crossroads

It is unfortunate that so much of our traditional education, the classics, penmanship, sportsmanship, politesse. Some of these may not have been a formal part of the curriculum but were assumed to part of out teachers' responsibilities. As for penmanship, I was so very proud when I won the...

Is it just me or the vintage style?

There are some us out there... Many of my friends also appreciate a well dressed woman. Several of us have interests that span the 19th centrury through the forties - I am particularly fond of the Edwardian and Roaring Twenties. I would have enjoyed taking a date to a dinner club where the...

    cold weather hats

Great hat! I have always been a fan of the Persian Lamb "Ambassador" or "Envoy" hats. I have one in grey and just bought one in black. I also have a similar but slimmer version in sheared beaver, and a larger rounder beaver fur hat. Can you tell I'm not built for cold weather?

    Middle Eastern Headgear

An altogether different story that. Saudi headwear is quite different, and much simpler. Traditional Saudi headwear includes the ghutra, a large diagonally folded cotton square worn over a kufiyyah (skull cap) and held in place by an igaal, a double-coiled cord circlet. I believe the igaal...

    How to wear a hat?

Here is a link from an earlier thread to Miller Hats. The thread started as a quetion about who can wear a high crown. http://www.millerhats.com/hatcare_index/hatfaces.html There have been a few other threads as well. This link is pretty helpful, but you'll want to find a good hat shop...
