There were etiquette classes at my school and my mother was pretty insistent on all of it at home as well. And after college I also wrote an etiquette column. But I always think it just boils down to the golden rule: treat people as you would like to be treated. The rest is just gravy.

Oh sweetie, just you wait! I never thought I would ever meet my retro sweetie, but we're tying the knot this Saturday in vintage duds to boot!
Patience, sweet Naama!
Wish I could come, but am getting married that day in SF. Even though it's not the QM, I am wearing a vintage wedding dress, ff stocking and using vintage lace in my veil, so I'll think of it as my own personsal QM experience.
But next year, I'm so there! Perfect anniversary present!
This made me so happy! Thank you for sharing. I love Carmen Miranda and went has her for Halloween when I was 10 years old. Used my grandmothers plastic fruit--grabbed it right off the dining room table--for my headdress. Grounded for a week, but totally worth it.
Welcome to the Lounge Tough...
Wow! These are some great tips, ladies. I'm about to get into a very smoochy day (wedding is next Saturday...) and need something to keep the lips in place!
I've tried that cover girl stuff, but I think it dries my lips out to the brink! But it does stay put.
I'll have to try the ice cube...
I know the feeling! If I had a dime for every perfect dress that I've had sniped from right under me, I'd have enough money to use esniper.com! Oof!
Fortunately, wedding dresses do pop up pretty religiously on eBay, so I bet another decent one is just around the corner.
Good luck!
Oh Olive Bleu--that hat is simply darling. I saw someone with a similar one--cocked off to the side of the head on Halloween and I almost asked her to commision one for me. It was so cute!
Right now I'm on a sock knitting bender thanks to Lolly's Socktoberfest knit along, but I'm beginning to...
I was about to reference the knitting craze too. About five years ago WSJ wrote an article about knitting too as a response to the 9/11 and people's desire to find comfort in things as well as a backlash against technology.
I have a friend who owns a knitting shop and she says that her sales...
I do spinning 3-4 times a week and weight train 2-3 times a week. I try to stay (very far) away from white flour products and sweets. I also started Weight Watchers in March and have lost about 40 lbs since January.
When I first bought my vintage wedding dress the back wouldn't even close...
Hmmm... I was just thinking about renting that. Thanks!
What is the ending? Non conformist to Hollywood? Sounds like they don't get together at the end. Sigh! I like my Hollywood endings.
Hee hee! Thanks. Took a bit of nerves to be honest--I can be so shy sometimes, and I don't think of myself as photogenic. But I just thought this picture was a hoot!
I totally mix vintage eras, because when it comes down to it not one really suits my mercurical body/lifestyle/mood completely, so I mix and match it all the time.
I actually love the 1930s styles the most, but find the styles of the 40s and 50s best for my figure.
And I live vintage...
Heh heh! Thanks!
To be honest, I had just gotten my make up done (a practice round before my wedding) and I felt the need to camp it up.
And my hairstyling abilities are s-l-o-w-l-y improving. Oof!
