Where to put the old...
...hat. I've become quite adept at finding new places to put it when I dine. One place I go to has a shark on the wall. Usually there the hat goes on his nose.
I haven't been stuck yet. There seems to always be some place to put it in sight such as ledges...
Not exactly vintage...
...but traditional. Here is our place a few springs ago.
Here is the pedimented portico I decided to build. At this point I'm half way done, and haven't painted it.
Here is a closer view. Still unpainted.
Having said...
...what I think is the classical definition, I'll say that the more comprehensive view is probably more current.
The term "clothier" (whatever that means) seems to be much used these days.
I thought...
...I was going to be a pirate, but as we near the party in question everybody is going whiskey delta on me. Mrs Fogey isn't keen to be the only couple in costume.
The Russians...
...have an expression: "the tall nail gets hammered down." Sounds like a lazy person wants you to join her in her mediocrity.
Her blandness is her own punishment.
Bows is probably right...
...about the change in meaning over time. Harry Truman was a haberdasher, and his biography by McCullough (pages 145-147) goes into great detail on the Kansas City shop, which is basically everything but suits, outerwear, and shoes. You don't get more American...

Being that I'm so old fashoned in so many other ways, I don't suppose I'll be giving up mine anytime soon.
Boy ain't that the truth...
...I saw part of a show on the singer "Pink". "Oh she's such a rebel." "Oh she's so original." Oh brother. What a self obsessed stinkin' little clone. Now, if she was a torch singer with no "tats" and good manners that would be original.
HOAs...
...Bah. I've been in three, and now I'm not. They are supposed to protect your property value from your neighbors. Hah!! This is the best kept neighborhood we've ever been in.
A close cousin...
...of the escape map is the "blood chit." Blood chits have the US flag on them and usually have a message in all the major languages of a region. They usually identify the airman as an American and offer a reward for protection and safe conduct of him (now her too) back to...
Fedoras getting...
...popular again? Probably not. Having a few bored celebrities wearing them won't bring them back. The forces of practicality that created the felt fedora drove them from everyday use long ago.
For those of us who wear them, they are our thing of uniqueness as opposed...
