These days I think I would like one of the tiny little cars we used only to see in London or, one of the almost as tiny little cars seen throughout Europe. However, like others, I still worry about the other drivers in SUVs (coming from a three time Suburban dirver) and their lack of...
You Can't Take It With You is definitely up there. Cabin in The Sky and Ziegfeld Folies. Porgie and Bess always makes me smile, whether its the movie, the UK or Lincoln Center broadcasts, or just the recordings.
I guess I am more diet conscious ;) I like eggs benedict, eggs sardou, eggs with crispy (on the outside) corned beef hash or, when I can find it, crispy scrapple!
Oh, BTW, fried or poached over the corned beef or the scrapple as well...
I don't know when I first saw this image but I was fairly young. I was quite excited when I found a digitized copy. Growing up we listened to a lot of Scott Joplin and some of the artists who also performed jazz like Jelly Roll Morton.
Speaking of the Jazz Age. Here is a favourite image - one that Sarah and I try to emulate during our club's period events - the style and admittedly a need for more skill on the dance floor.
Not to say that the real spice, our debates and differences, is absent. We do however enjoy...
Does anyone know what route they took, was it mentioned in the Post article? There are a few tour companies out there that arrange group trips to Cuba but fly you through Canada. Looking at their web sites, they post all sorts of legan disclaimers and direct their customers to the State...
There used to be a shuttle flight between Cozumel and Havana, although the last time I went down (also some years ago), there were Federales galore in that departure gate where there used only to be one or two sleepy gate attendants.
I guess that shows how much I have been keeping track. There was, at least for a time, an easing of the restrictions and our friends came back from duty free with small samplings of cigars that were declared and passed through customs. However, that last MAS trip was several years ago.
Restrictions on tourism have been eased/easing for some time now. Architectural tours are being run by groups like the Municipal Art Society in NY, and some universities, and there is also an allowance for cuban cigars for personal use. I believe the number may be ten. It seems quite odd that...
I GARONTEE!
His daughter maintains a Justin Wilson web site
http://www.justinwilson.com/
Including recipe books, recordings and DVDs and a couple audio files she calls Justins Sayins, "Hear Justin saying some of de tings dat have made him famous!"
I have another question for those who do remember Justin Wilson. What type of hat was it that he wore? I don't think we were ever shown the crown, but from from and side it looks flat on top, with wide brim turned up all the way around - turned up as much as a homburg.
I also agree with...
Arrgh...
Now you have this topic stuck in my head - food being our family's number one passtime.
Other shows I miss are Julia Child, Graham Kerr, and James Beard. Some of my earliest TV memories are Julia Child's show.
Yes, agreed. The original or new Iron Chef? I am still a huge fan of the original announcers, and one of my favourite all time cooking shows was the episode when they had to cook with Sturgeon.
Have to say that I'm not thrilled with most of the shows these days. There are a few, for nostaligia (Barefoot Contessa - my parents had a place in East Hampton, and I lived in Southampton village); or, for pure entertainiment - the original Iron Chef show is why I started watching. I find I...
Fortunately there do seem to be a few men and women left in the world who value style and elegance, and there seems to be a bit of a shift to a somewhat cleaner look in our offices. We do however, find ourselves haunting fewer restaurants, lounges and clubs. While we still do like to try out...
