Well, the hat will be winging its way to the new owner later today.
The more important questions - when? what? are there more out there?
Seller thought this was a 1950s hat. It comes from an estate (many other hats were sold) from a well know jurist here in Mass.
Going back to our...
I just realized something that may drive me to drink ... more ;) Now that I have had this hat in my hands, and know that they are out there, I am going to spend an awful lot of time searching for another...
My recent find - a lightweight Borsalino with diamond pattern vent holes arrived today. The seller was right, it looks like it was rarely if ever worn with a pristine sweatband, but does show some moth bites, under the brim and above the bow as mentioned in the add. The felt is wonderful, thin...
I'm jealous! I have been looking for a reasonable priced fur coat, preferably somethin like sheared beaver (mink, etc.) for the short thin gentleman. But the rare few even close to my size are very expensive. When the temps dip down in the single digits all I can think of are the days as a...
My apologies. All of my BB experinece was at 44th St. in Manhattan and in my NYcentric world view only just realized that you would not have known their head tailor in NYC. I heard from a friend recently that he may have come out of retirement to help during their recent MTM promotions.
I guess that explains it. After reading the comments I went back in to the closets and turned out the pockets on two suits, each dated 1990. They fit too well to be MTM. Do you happen to remember the head tailor's name, or know what became of him? A rather slender older Italian gentleman. I...
I don't eat hot dogs very often, but Papaya King in New York, or a good ol' dirty water dog from a street vendor while walking to the entrance of Central Park.
Time to stir the pot or, for some, shake
Here are several gin cocktail recipes that I have jotted down at my bar. We have been experimenting quite a lot recently and have many Martini purists among us. There are a few that might be predecessors to today’s cocktails with the –tini suffix...
Pisco is definitely an interesting brandy or marc (?) made in the wine making regions of Chile. I tasted some last year at a wine tasting featuring Chilean wines. Not bad at all.
Interesting - that makes me wonder. Were the later suits all purely MTM? If that is the case, they must have found an odd sized pattern for me. My navy suit, while rather boring style wise, fits nearly as well as several bespoke suits.
Then again, at the time, I relied quite heavily on...
Will - the Brooks Brothers Custom shop (although primarily sewn in Queens) was still around even after M&S took them over but sadly, by then, it was much diminished and the crew of italian tailors from 44th street left. The last suit I had made there was in 1990 - perhaps more a hybrid of MTM...
