Wingnut, that is an outstanding fedora you've got yourself there! The proportions are just right for you, and you've done a great job with the crease. Great collaboration between client and hatter. Nice work, Wingnut and Art!
Since you'll be wearing blues and blacks, I'd say go with dark navy. I recently got an Art Fawcett VS in pecan, which has a dark gray ribbon that has a dark navy-ish cast to it, and it works really well with my black and navy jackets (see the Vintage Silhouettes Custom Hats - Official Affiliate...
Thanks, gtdean48, for your comment. I'd love to have a ArtLight, too!
g.durand and emigran, I'll admit that, yes, I am already thinking about what the next one will be!
P.S. The above-posted VS Pecan photos seem to be of a lower resolution than the originals. If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to post full resolution pics--if anyone can explain to me how to do it! (I'm a photo-posting neophyte, obviously.)
It is my privilege to share with you all some photos of my first Art Fawcett/VS fedora!
I first want to thank all of you who have previously posted photos of your Art Fawcett creations on the FL. I’d have never heard of Art Fawcett/VS had it not been for the FL, and I don’t think I'd have been...
That is so beautiful! And it suits you very well! Congratulations! If you don't mind, could you tell us the particulars (dimensions, weight and finish of felt, etc.)? Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
What an graceful hat! The crown looks so soft, creating an elegant, relaxed look, while the brim appears crisp and sharp. Congratulations to both Landman and Art!
My head measure in between a 56 and 57. On the advice of the hat dealer, Everything Australian, I bought my Squatter in a size 57. After two weeks of wear, it shrunk down to a perfect fit, just as they said it would. No water, just normal wear. I also have an Akubra Sydney. Same thing.
I have a Schott that is labeled 38. My chest measures 40, and with only a T-shirt I would say if anything the jacket is too large, though it's fine with a thick sweater. So (from my experience, at least) if you want your jacket to be "fitted," I'd ignore Schott's "order one size up" suggestion.
