Since your chest is 43", Damo, I would definitely go with a 38 if you're going for the 641HH. At 42", I can just zip up a size 36. Size 38 will be perfect. For you, it will be very, very fitted but it wouldn't squeeze your chest together or anything.

Damo, you don't have to rub it with alcohol, the jacket will start loosing its glossy coating after a month of wear or less, depends on how often you're wearing it, and after half a year, you won't believe it's the same jacket. As nick123 pointed out, Schott HH indeed gets really beautiful after some wear, and also, while it's relatively stiff at first, once the jacket gets broken in, I don't think you could find a softer leather. Has that buttery feel to it everyone's talking about. Great stuff. Almost too nice for that MC style...
Other than that, it's 3oz thick, exactly as Aero (comparison I've made some time ago: http://s866.photobucket.com/user/DogLizard/library/MC ) and I was using mine as a riding jacket and it never soaked a drop of rain so yeah, so much about inferiority. Schott says glossy finish is an added water protection so in theory, rubbing it off shouldn't do much to the jacket as the thing will eventually disappear by itself, but I'd rather kick the jacket around the house for a few days to tone it down, than rub alcohol into it. But it indeed starts off shiny as hell...

What sucks is that despite the order size up bs on Schott com, my 618 wasn't a trim fitting jacket at all, and that's something you should be careful about. Email them for size charts.

As for LW, I wouldn't even consider it because I am not man enough for it.

Good post there. I didn't want to Scare Damo off the schott jacket. Indeed rubbing the jacket down with alcool will take the shine off, just go gently with it.

Mine is mutch less shiny than when it was new but still eye popping compared to the trendy naked hide mall jackets everybody wear.

The jacket is waterproof, I experienced a donwpoor while wearing it and I can say my torso was dry.

To tell you the truth, the size 36 sleeves are a tad short on me. The size 38 would suit me better in that aspect. Measured from the shoulder to the wrist, 26" is my magical number.

I currently have 5 Lost World Jackets all are D pockets 4 are horse and 1 is goat. LW is now using a CX horse that seems more malleable but still very thick. I have 2 of these (both russet) and they are both new this year and seem to be breaking in nicely. I have an older (4 years old) CX black horse that is fantastic. LW does not use Vegetable tanned hides. The goat is for riding in spring fall and very comfortable. Personally I will go for Lost Worlds over any jacket out there. They take awhile to break in but hell that's the fun of wearing them but the tailoring is the best I have ever seen on any jacket hands down. I like the Easy Rider and the Buco Rider too I think either would be great jackets for riding.

What does your arm measure when measured from shoulder to wrist? I measure about 60-61cm. Again, 26" sleeve length is perfect for me. If you want to layer, I'd say get a size 40. I wouldn't be able to zip up my size 36 641HH if I wore, say, a fleece vest or a sweater under it.

Thx for the info 1Thog, it took a while but it's nice to hear someone chime in regarding Lost Worlds. I'm glad to hear that the quality of their jackets are really really good. It sounds like both LW and schott are excellent quality wise. My 2 knocks against the LW easy rider are the price and the fit of the jacket isn't as trim/slim as the 641HH. I do like that the leather isn't shiny and is thicker since I'll be wearing it for riding as well. Now most of this is based on all of your advice/info. I have the measurements for both jackets so that I actually know.

Now if there some magical way I could have both of them in my hands and then make my decision that would ideal. However living in canada and having to pay the shipping both ways and then also customs/taxes would dramatically increase the price of these jackets. And before anyone says it, I'm not getting both!!!

And yes I am leery about ordering a size up. I have received a sizing chart and I think I would be either a 38 or 40. My chest is about 43 with a tee shirt on and based on the sizing chart id be fine. I also would like the jacket to be fitted.

I have a Schott that is labeled 38. My chest measures 40, and with only a T-shirt I would say if anything the jacket is too large, though it's fine with a thick sweater. So (from my experience, at least) if you want your jacket to be "fitted," I'd ignore Schott's "order one size up" suggestion.

I've owned several LW jackets (3 russet HH a-2's and a black HH Suburban) as well as a Schott 689H. For me, LW is an awesome jacket; thick indestructible HH (waterproof too) and 100% perfect workmanship (seams, stitching, zipper, snaps, etc). The LW 46 long fits me spot on. The Schott was good quality but I had to size up to a 50 to try to get decent sleeve length (their sleeves run short IMO). The LW is definitely a class up from the Schott. I'd rate the LW a 9.5 and the Scott a 7 (scale of 1-10). Just my 2 cents

Thor, thx for the info and I do like the rating scale from people that have owned several jackets. ONe thing that I would like in my next jacket is for it to be fitted. My concern with the Lost World Easy Rider is that the measurement around the waist/midsection is 42" on the 42r jacket. I just measured my waist over jeans and a tee shirt and the measurement was 38" and my stomach measurement is 34" The 42r around the waist fully cinched is 38", back to my concern is I think the jacket will bunch and not look right fully cinched in. Do you happen to have photos of the 4 ounce horsehide cinched in?.

Sorry Damo, I owned the Suburban (a size 44) years ago and sadly outgrew it (am now more comfortable with a 46). Jacket was sold (but I am sorely tempted to get another one). Jacket sizing and body types and fit preferences are all subjective. Someone called it "the journey" of finding the right jacket; enjoy the journey. That's part of the fun of this hobby/obsession

Np Thor, I do like journeys however I can't afford expensive journeys right now...
