Thanks for your writeup, and for sharing your photos.
Frankly, I think it looks too short, and agree with the thought (that has often been voiced before on this forum) that this sort of jacket design dates from an era in which men's trousers were much higher waisted than is the current...
I've been out to the Vanson factory several times, and while there I tried on the Arrow, which is a current model, and was in stock in several sizes when I was there. It does indeed have a half belt, and is made of their mid weight "Firenze" leather, not their "competition" weight leather. I...
Wow, what a great hat, jbucklin! And it suits you extremely well! Might I ask, which model VS is it? Or is it a custom? (If the latter, what are its basic specs?)
Thanks!
Well, I think that is great, great looking hat on you, Rob. I certainly think it'd be a mistake to send it back for a refund. It may not be what you expected, but sometimes the unexpected turns out really well. If you just appreciate it for what it is, I think you'll come to love it. It looks...
I've been successful a couple of times in winning a Filson Mackinaw in like new condition on Ebay at a good price (approx. half off of new retail, or even less). Since these have been made for so many years, they constantly come up on Ebay, often in virtually new condition. Just don't get...
Hello Fellow Loungers,
If anyone's interested, I've just posted for auction on Ebay a brand new, unworn, Akubra Stylemaster, size 61 (7-5/8), in the Acorn Fawn color, complete with original shipping carton.
I purchased this as a gift for my dad, who (sadly!) says he stopped wearing...

The Filson vests are great for layering because they're very warm yet much less bulky than a down vest.
I've got a Filson western-style Mackinaw vest that I layer beneath my Johnson Leathers M-8002 hip-length car coat. It works very well for that, even though the vest has a collar. (I also...
There's one one ebay right now in your size. $425 "buy it now" price:

winterland,
Adding to what Fanch said: You mentioned you currently wear a Perfecto, which many people wear very closely fitted -- with the jacket measuring as little as 2 or 3 inches larger than the wearer's actual chest measurement. (For example, my chest measures 40" and I wear a Perfecto...
winterland,
I agree with Rudie that the shoulders don't look too narrow at all. Rather, from the photo it looks like where it's binding on you is at the armpits.
