What a pretty (the two ladies!) and handsome (the men) quartet you make! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap. Nice to see you Berliners getting together..... oh for more FL members in Edinburgh [huh].
Enjoy yourselves.

Yes, sometimes you seem to get a blade that is worse than average, in terms of sharpness or longevity.
The Gillette 7o'clock Sharp Edge blades that I use (the yellow packaged ones) seem to be more consistent than some others I have tried before, but even here there is sometimes variation...
Yep, I'd go with Tomasso on all this. I'd also be tempted to lose the ticket pocket on the jacket - just a bit too 'busy' with the DB lapelled waistcoat, plus have horizontal pocket flaps on the jacket for the same reason. Oh, and 4 buttons on the jacket sleeve cuffs..... IMHO :p

Not sure I should admit to this, but a few years ago I was tempted by some Samuel Windsor shoes, of the 'two for £100~' variety. I ordered a pair of 'chukka' boots and a pair of Monk straps as an experiment.
When they arrived, I found that the leather on the monk straps was really thin, almost...
Depends which part of France you're from
Probably the most usual would be 'lean-yu' with a very short 'uh' sound for the 'u'. Tricky critters, those French.....:D
(Although if you go back far enough (like to about the 11th century), my ancestors were actually French, so maybe I...
Yep, the (no doubt oft-quoted) story of Terence Young (of Bond film fame) getting Connery to sleep in his suits and DJ's, and just living in them long enough to get truly at home in them, comes to mind.....
Myself, I wear suits, from choice, about 365 days a year, and it's got to the extent...
A little bit different to the usual Dunn-fare that one sees (Bowlers, lots of Trilbys, caps etc) but, well, kudos to Dunn's for being far more adventurous and varied than I ever thought of them.....
Your new everyday-wear hat, RLK? ;)

Yeah, largely because of the 'having to keep it buttoned' thing, and also because DB's are less seen these days, then IMHO DB's simply look more formal or dressy, even if there is no great historical precedent here.....
We live in different times from the 1940's (even if we try and convince...
Presumably a reference to the joint between the metacarpal bone on the thumb side of the hand (which often moves as the 'thumb' is articulated) and the carpals at the wrist. So not technically a phalanx of the thumb at all :( , but certainly part of the functional articulation of the thumb side...
Usually go for the 'hand-grade' Crockett and Jones myself, as the quality is pretty good for the money and a lot of the lasts seem to work for me, as well as the the general style and cut. Cheaney also do some quite nice stuff, but often tend to slightly more boxy toe shapes, as do Churches...
Badger!
For me it's definitely badger. Have tried a boar bristle brush in the past but found it slightly scratchy on my face, and prefer a good badger brush largely because of that. Certainly don't find that the badger brush turns into a mop - although the badger I currently use (not a...
Yeh, I know it's weird, but in my book anything later than 60's is generally lumped together as 'modern'..... Probably a sign of advancing age and receding mind.....

If that is a genuine Loro Piana label in there, then it suggests that it is at least pretty good quality cloth, and therefore not likely to be wasted on some cheap lash-up of poorly constructed suit.
Who knows, though..... The pics look promising, at least, but likely to be modern Italian...
Right after this I lowered the back of the crown to give it a more pleasing dramatic downswoop from the apex of the crown. It seemed like the right thing to do.
Nice job on the bash, Mr. E, and definitely better with the downswoop!

Yep, the Hector Powe braces are based on small brass (?) hook type fittings that clip onto the rings sewn onto the trouser waistband. Very easy to attach or unfasten, and the rings on the waistband fold away inside when you're not using the braces. They are very smart and work well (if you are...
:offtopic: Thank you for this, Daisy. Having lived in Cambridge and often visited Oxford, I have been in enough Colleges to start getting vague as to exactly which ones are where..... :o
I must say, you've been doing a good line in 'out and about' pictures recently. Most enjoyable - keep...
Very pretty, Miss Daisy :eusa_clap .
By the way, where was this photo taken? It looks familiar to me, but I can't quite place it. (I know, I'm getting old and senile with a failing..... oh, what's the word?..... Aah yes, MEMORY!)
Thanks,
RobStC
