As I recently posted, I lean toward lowering the crown, if the hat has a high open crown, and sharp pinches in front with a diamond crease, or teardrop, and a good degree of front swoop. Your efforts in the last four photos is moving toward my taste. Nice chapeau! You have to find the look you...
I put a deeper diamond crease in this Dobbs and pinched and side dented it more sharply, plus adding more swoop to the brim. I love it now. I forgot how much fun steaming and shaping was. I really believe I'll be in fedoras much more now, deciding that lower crowned, tighter pinched, and...
Right up front...it's NOT an A-2, not as in a reproduction of a WWII era A-2. I knew it when I bought it. It IS a modern issue mil-spec goatskin A-2 and in spite of the deviations from the spec A-2, it is a well made, well-fitting, and supple leather jacket that is priced very fairly for what...
I'd mod that hat into a nice fedora style, brim trim, new grosgrain ribbon, maybe even a brim binding. Grey would be an interesting choice for ribbon accents. Thin ribbon, of course.

A short way in to this clip you can see the jacket Gene barry wears near the end of this film. Looks like a black A-2, but alas, it has slash pockets. He wears something similar to a M-41 jacket, khaki twill, in the scenes where they gather at the cylinder pit. Two military style jackets in a...
Yeah, actually the best I can say is that when anyone remarks about the hats I feel weird like I want to hide, even knowing they're just joking around or being cute or whatever. It's really an emotional reaction that troubles me. Being somewhat narcissistic contributes to it. If you have that...
Great jacket you have there! I have an L-2A reproduction from Alpha that I've used to incentivize weight loss. Not a bad motivator for you , at all! Very nice!

Thank you, both. You know, it's been a challenge to stick with fedoras, for me, anyway, but I haven't given up yet. Not yet. I need to invest in better goods, but right now jackets have taken center place in my interests. Funny how we go through seasons of interest.

Wearing this today for a busy schedule: 11am funeral, 4pm wedding, 6:30pm worship service. This Dobbs used to have a black ribbon. As to the color change, all I will say is that it is the same exact ribbon.:whistling I like this so much better!
And in the tradition of...
Nice! Unique! Good for you! Actually, I think a natural aging process for that jacket, whatever it might entail could be prove quite interesting. Are you going to wear that one in the shower?lol
