Thank you for the kind words. This hat has ZERO taper, the phonecam adds it. The felt is supple, a wonderful neutral shade, and the sweat soft and very comfortable. I can't photgraph it to do it justice, but here's a shot of the the inside:
I can say this; I owned an Open Road from...
I've heard of this happening, but I never figured it would happen to me. Went to an antique store in Mason, Michigan, and found this: Royal Stetson Playboy, 7 3/8, excellent condition, and previous owner's name stamped on the sweatband. I think it's a late forties hat. $21!!! I won't go on...
Yeah, I know how tough it is, I gave up on doing 'right' myself, and resorted to using an adhesive in a couple of instances. Not proud of it, but the frustration was simply too great. Good stitching job, BTW, Will! Love your work.
Aren't sweats usually sewed to the hat body through an inner flange on the outward side of the sweat, for that purpose? I only mention this for the sake of the look of the leather, and the comfort factor, since stitching directly against your skin is not as easy on the head, especialy forehead...
This is RBH, his soul has been captured on film. The hat is terrific, BTW!

Didja notice I typed "RObbons" instead of "ribbons'? I try to proofread my posts, and missed it entirely. This is happening more and more. I really think I will go Campdraft, R, and mainly because thin RIbbons just look better to me. How about a Style master re-RIbboned thinly? Plus, for...
This is a great looking lid, kiltie, and you look great in it! I see why it was whimpering for a wear. I'm glad someone else admits that their hats have personalities, and "speak" to their owners. Dogs have nothing on hats.
I think the guy in the Fedora Lounge Logo chose a Stylemaster. I'm another lounger torn between the two, and will probably put my money toward a Capricorn and save the felt purchase until fall when the decision will present its dilemma again. I lean toward thin robbons, but like the...
