Actually Luftwaffe jackets were much closer fitting. You'll find the perceived extra room you have in that jacket as a plus, so to speak, as years pass.

Get a new one seems the best answer, and just a brief note here, my suggestion about the leather repair kit was based on the premise that the affected area was very, very small and that such an application would be a minor aspect of the entire collar. I do understand that it there are better...

I used furniture scratch cover. It worked great, but takes a day or so to dry and uniformity of finish will depend on cracks in the leather, they darken moreso.

If it were me, I'd post it on e-bay and let it find a home. My guess is that your points of dissatisfaction are not going to go away. It was the sleeve length that I see as the deal breaker. The fit of the body of the jacket not so much. You can lose weight to affect that, but your arms are...
