Many thanks Jeff and Diaza. I think our fellow Loungers would agree with you Jeff, but some simply feel that my shaped melon is best complemented by a broader brim.

And I do tend to agree with them - most days.

I'm of the opinion that height and taper matter much more in suiting the face, and that within certain bounds brim width is a style choice. Certainly most here seem to be predisposed to the 40's style wider brims, but very few are actually restricted to one style of brim.

I donned this Akubra Squatter for a dog walk because it has a gigantic brim to protect my tender skin from the sun.

My wife has one of the original 1984 Stetson Indiana Jones (wool) hats, reputedly given to a bus driver by Harrison Ford, himself. Your Borsalino had to be the model for that hat. Stetson later widened the brim, for a "broader appeal. I'm used to it, by now, and actually find the dimensions quite pleasing.

Stingies are back in fashion...!

Especially since the new men's suits have much narrower lapels. Anybody else notice that?
