"Gold Diggers of 1933" has become one of my very favorite movies. Joan Blondell did sing the beginning of "Remember My Forgotten Man," but the lady who took over was the great Etta Moten, who passed away in 2004 at the age of 102. Here is her IMDB page: http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0609323/...
I think most telephone companies can still handle "pulse" dialing. They use digital switches rather than the old step-by-step, but they're otherwise pretty low-tech. Most of them still use gigantic lead-acid batteries to provide the 48VDC that powers the phone lines. That's why your phone...
Here's the eBay auction (it has ended) for that 1938 Plymouth. I see no evidence of fire, but I suspect that the window damage was due to that other "element" of classical science, water. Maybe some earth and air, too. :)...

Some may say that the 1938 Plymouth has a face only a mother could love, and it's true that they didn't sell as well as the '37, but who am I to argue with "Mad Dog" Earle, Philip Marlowe and Walter Neff?
This is a pic from an eBay auction. Wish I had the dough...
I've actually heard of doctors using Everclear on patients who ingested glycol or methanol, so it's not that unusual.

TCM showed a silent film from 1909 called "His Last Game" and one of the main characters wore a hat with a Montana crease, only the crease was rotated 45 degrees. You really see some interesting stuff in those old pictures and movies.
Good to see you back, Kevin!
When I see those tweed fedoras, I always think of Rex Harrison or Terry-Thomas. Not my cup o' tea, but they work for some fellows like the aforementioned.
The good news is, all their back issues are available in .pdf format on CD-ROM. http://www.airwingmedia.com/
Of course, I had just paid for a year's subscription right before they went belly-up. :rage:
