Headin' to NYC tomorrow, Wife's friend won Letterman Tickets....

Roseland is right next door to the Ed Sullivan Theater, that I know. I'd really go there an hour or two before taping and check in. Two to be on the safe side. As far as I know, tickets do not guarantee admission. That's from various online Letterman fan sites and message boards. I've...

    Show us your vehicles

Then again, "Oh, I'm never selling that truck! I'm gonna restore it, yes sir-ree! Ya see, it belonged to my third cousin Zeke, and he once gave Barton MacLaine a ride in it, and blah blah blah..." :rage: :D

    My new (vintage) Borsalino

Looks like a great hat, the price really isn't out of line. I wonder why the fellow would sell his father's hat, though. I guess some folks are less sentimental than others. I have a hunch you'll really enjoy it and get your money's worth out of it. :)

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

My favorite bits are still Snoopy's Great War scenes. The French signs, trenches and barbed wire are so evocative. Hey, what are the songs Schroeder plays for Snoopy? I recognize "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" and "Pack Up Your Troubles" but what are the others?

    Interesting haloween vintage story

Nope, total L7 here. I didn't even TP the house of the old couple who handed out little baggies of Cheerios every year. lol

    Deals on Wheels!

Dang, that deSoto really speaks to me. Someday, soon, I hope, I'll be able to pick one up.

    Interesting haloween vintage story

I was such a good kid, I just went trick-or-treating with my older brother, no pranks. Our family had a little summer cabin near a logging town up in northern California, not far from where The Captain lives, and the town had wooden sidewalks and the "main street" was dirt. This was in the...

    Golden Era Planes of Fame

Being rather large and ungainly myself, I confess a certain fondness for the B-36. I absolutely love the early scene in "Strategic Air Command" starring Brigadier General Jimmy Stewart when the '36 passes overhead in full song.

    Three Strip Technicolor of 1934.

LizzieMaine, I'm trying to picture (no pun intended) setting up a 2 strip or a 3 strip film in a projector. Is it a complicated process? Are there actually 2 or 3 reels?

    Elderly Parents and Bad Illness

Excellent news John! Continued thoughts and prayers to your family. Looking forward to chatting with Mom next time you have a barbecue! :)

    Shearer evacuated

Not too much of a downpour though, or we'll get mudslides. Again. It has cooled off a great deal and there are clouds and scattered drizzle today. I love it! :) Glad Shearer is safe. My heart really breaks for those who have lost their homes. Aside from losing a loved one, it has to...

Former Navy planes from the 1930s used in fire

Did the Mars really show up at San Diego? Flying one of those long distances over land would worry me, if they had to make an emergency landing along the way, they'd be in big trouble. I guess they could chart a route that passes over some large lakes and such. I have a dim memory of seeing...

    Oops! I Did It Again...

The Bulgarian Borsalino strikes again! That looks to be a cool lid, and I'm definitely keeping an eye on that seller's stuff. Well, I have been for a while, anyway. I got a brown Borsalino Homburg from them not so long ago, one one of those "best offer" deals. Had I known, I'd have offered...

    Sears Christmas 1945

Christmas 1945, can you imagine what that was like, four years after Pearl Harbor, and the war finally over? I'd love to compare it with Christmas 1942.

    J. Peterman Keeper's Tweed sport jacket

What hat? Hey, regarding J.Pete, I haven't tried their coats and trousers because they don't seem to come in my size. I took a chance, however, and ordered one of their shirts in 2XL. It fits like all the other shirts I have in 3XL, if not a touch looser still. I've since ordered a few...

    Sock Garters

My calves are the size of some people's thighs, and elastic socks squeeze a nice deep depression right around my leg. I may look into those sock garter thingies, if they make 'em big enough.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

Or Santa riding the Norelco electric shaver, or the "Carol of the Bells" Andre Champagne commercial, or the "I'd like to buy the world a Coke" commercial that had the songwriters scrambling to turn it into a full-length song after a flood of demand? :)
