    What's your Holy Grail?

A Supermarine Spitfire, hands down. Then all I'd need to do is lose about 150 pounds in order to fit in the cockpit. Failing that, the 1938 Plymouth Coupe used in "The Big Sleep."

Your Favorite Band of Brothers Episode

Pretty cool! His performance in the episode when they discover the labor camp was a true tour de force. It practically had me in tears.

    Elderly Parents and Bad Illness

John, I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She is at peace now and the pain is gone. This evening marks the 9th anniversary of my Mom's passing. The pain subsides, but never truly goes away. My Mom is alive in my dreams to this day, as I'm sure your Mom will be in yours. You...

Ummm... any of you into vintage photography, as in with vintage cameras?

I received the camera kit of a photography buff who had passed away, from a friend who knew him. Included was an Exakta 35mm SLR that I was able to identify as about a 1960-61 model, and a longer lens and several lens extenders, one of the bellows type. The Exakta is interesting in that it has...

    Sad Story...

I think the '41 is the best looking of all the Plymouth coupes of that era. I'd love to find a nice one. I did find a large die-cast model, so that'll have to do for now. Mechanically, they're simple, rugged and reliable.

The Dozen Most Important Cars of All Time

"Most Important" in terms of transportation? Then I'd say the Ford model T, the VW Bug and the Dodge Dart. Any driver between the ages of 30 and 100 has had at least one of those three. I've had two out of three.

    Vintage Phones

Interesting phone, looks like a WE 302 with an Automatic Electric dial. Some of the small independent phone companies bought 302s like that and used the AE style dial, with the "0" at the 6 o'clock position rather than the WE style which had the "0" at around 4 o'clock.

    The chill factor.

It happened to me aboard the Queen Mary in 2006, I stepped out of the Verandah Grill onto the deck aft, turned around, looked up and the fog had enshrouded the ship to the extent that one couldn't see the dock or the lights of Long Beach. It really felt like 1936.

    Fathead?

I think it mostly depends on whether your body accumulates fat in the forehead region. I don't, from what I can determine by feel. I seem to get it all in the cheeks and jowls. Maybe some medical types can chime in?

What to do when they just don't get it

Well, I don't have a wife but I do have lots of hats, so anyone applying for the job would already know what she's getting into. Here in the Los Angeles area, I just don't get the negativity from the population at large that some of the folks get in other communities. I do get compliments...
