My wardrobe's changed a lot in the last couple years. Currently 7 suits, 4 tweed jackets, and two odd pairs of trousers. 2 of the suits are summer only. I've been working on building it back up, especially since I wear a suit or coat and tie at least five days a week.
Got this suit a little over a week ago. Had some mending and alterations to do. The trouser cuffs were worn straight through front and back, so I had to take care of that, plus some other minor fixes. Good fit, comfortable, just right for me!

Thanks, HBK. My biggest problem is maintaining momentum. I don't think it would take me even half as long to make something if I'd just keep on it (I started this jacket on January 25, and finished it March 19). Naturally I have other things I need to do, but I need to spend more time sewing...
Thanks, Patrick! The trousers are actually black and white houndstooth, so there's more contrast in real life, but they look gray in the (admittedly not especially clear) photo.
Just finished this jacket. Blue-gray tweed, with a light gray lining.
Bellows pockets, no vent.
One large in breast pocket and one small for a couple pens.
I put the breast pocket on too high (I transferred the wrong line to the fabric, mea culpa). Turned out pretty well over all...
Interfacing is just an extra layer of fabric to give something more body, stiffness, etc. Sometimes for a shirt it can be simple, plain cotton or something stiffer. It depends on the desired effect, the fabric of the shirt, and the methods of the one sewing.
The Lining Company has shirt...
Gents,
I'm looking to buy a new (to me) suit. Maybe one of you has a suit that no longer fits, or you don't wear anymore? This is what I'm looking for:
1930s or 1940s (early '50s if it has an earlier style or cut)
Fabric, color, and pattern are not an issue--not looking for anything...
You could certainly send your measurements in to Burton through a catalog. HBK posted an image from a (pre-war) Burton catalog with a link button earlier in this thread, on p. 16 http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?53383-Show-us-your-British-suits&p=1360003&viewfull=1#post1360003
Yep.
I hadn't thought about that, although at the time they probably did.
The rest of your photos finally showed up for me (when I looked before only the first one did). My suit was made maybe 10 years after yours, but it had the same slightly-off color strips on the sides from letting it out...
