    Richard III (1995)

One of my favorite adaptations of one of my favorite plays. Richard giving the opening monologue to Edward's face at the beginning is brilliant. Yes, it's the Wars of the Roses, but in this context imagine the Spanish Civil War had influenced England in the '30s. Love it.

Any plus four aficianados out there...

How many darts are taken out of the front and back of the cuffs? I see one in the photo laid flat, but are there two or one on the other side? How long are they?

Any plus four aficianados out there...

WOW! Now that's a fabric! Quite a nice looking cut, too. Could you post a couple more detail shots of the cuffs? This is a kneeband arrangement I haven't seen before.

Gentlemen, show us what you've made!

Me too! A little heavier would be nice, but I bought this online (9 yards and a steal on eBay) and that's often a gamble, though it looks better in person. Ah, well, in the future. I have a nice Harris tweed for a suit at some point.

Gentlemen, show us what you've made!

Thanks, gents! This was a fun project. I've got my next suit planned, it'll be a linen summer suit.

Gentlemen, show us what you've made!

I've been working on this project for a while, and recently finished it. It's a five piece suit, inspired by the one worn by Bela Lugosi in The Black Cat. His was only a three piece, but I had enough extra fabric for a cap and plus fours. I've been wanting a plus fours suit, so this was a...

    Show us your suits

Welcome to the Lounge, Bespokewrinles. I second Patrick, especially the blue suit. That double breasted vest looks spot on, something that one doesn't see often in modern suits, even bespoke.

    Buttonholes on some men's shirts...

The two buttons that receive the most stress during wear are the collar and bottom buttons. The horizontal buttonhole will take the strain without distorting and allowing the button to come undone.

Were double-breasted suits with vests once common?

Double breasted jacket with a single breasted vest was quite common before mid-century. You find them all the time in movies, photos, catalogs, and originals. Single breasted with a double breasted vest was relatively uncommon, though more frequent than today.

    Blacksmithing

Nice shop! I've been smithing for years. I did it professionally for a while, too, until I started teaching at the university (which has kept me out of the forge for a while, but I'll find the time eventually!) Here are some of the things I like to make! 16th-century ball padlock Here it...
