Hi there and welcome. I own a G-1 from 1960 and an ANJ-3A from 1943. Both have very supple goatskin. The 1960 G-1 is near mint have not been worn much if any at all. Both jackets have very thin goatskin which I like. Hope this answers your question
Yes I thought it was a Werber too. Interesting on the ELC web site that it does have rather long cuffs. So I guess my A2 isn't too inaccurate for having them.
What I find interesting is the length of Col Tinker's cuffs on his A2. Must be at least 3 inches. Look just like the ones on my Buzz A2. And I thought they were too long.
Leather thicknesses are described using weight units of ounces. Although the statement is in ounces only, it is an abbreviation of ounces per square foot. Each ounce is equal to 0.40 mm in thickness. This is from the Gibson and Barnes catalog
Very nice jacket. With all my flight jackets for some reason lately I have been looking a motorcyle jackets. Really like them the older ones like you have. Will have to start the prowl for one.
Not a big fan of patching jackets but had one with the marks of a previous patch. So got Jerome to paint this one up. It is a night fighter squadron. I really like the Disney patches
Graining is nice. HH can be either thick or thin I have both. I prefer it to be on the thinner side but that is a personal preference. Overall I like the jacket. Yeah shoulder droop but you know I have more expensive jackets that have that too. It all comes down to are you happy with it. I...
The warhorse leather is supposed to be more grainy in appearance. Having looked at photos only and comparing to my original A2s which are very grainy I would think Eastman has hit the mark on the leather issue. As far as the zipper I have seen 1401s with crown and talon on them. So, in either...
I also agree. If you are breaking it in for comfort than nothing wrong with that. I had a brand new aero very stiff. Used Mark Moye's method as you did and it soften up very quickly and made it easier to wear.
I just got an ANJ-3 from G&B. It is a hybrid between the A2 and G-1 jacket. Has all of the features of the G-1 but an external windflap and eps. In any event I had to go two sizes down. I started with a 42 R which is my size with Eastman A2s and the three Navy G-1s I have. Way too big...
Lots of folks visit the Arizona during their visit to Hawaii Oahu. However, what many people don't know is on the opposite side of Ford Island is a small memorial to the USS Utah which sunk with over 70 hands on board. Unlike the Arizona which is almost completely submerged the Utah is on her...
