A2's, do you miss handwarmer pockets?

From what I had read was that no handwarmer pockets on the original A2s because the powers that be thought it would make their airman look like criminals. Go figure that one out. I like to stick with the original deal and have no handwarmer pockets which is why I got the A10 USAAF gloves that...

New Gibson and Barnes ANJ-3 for sale

Worn only a couple of times essentially new jacket made of very nice goatskin ANJ-3 model made by Gibson and Barnes. Size is 38 but these jackets run large. Normally I take a 42 in ELC and Buzz A-2s and 44 in Originals and this thing fits. Runs 48 in circumference under the arm pits. Price...

Original MA-1 and L-2B 1950s models for sale

Got to make room for some new jackets I ordered (i.e., Goodwear) so here is a chance to nab two very nice 50s nylon jackets at a good price. The MA-1 is a Skyline Large they tend to run a bit big (for reference I take a 42 in ELC jackets and a 40 or 42 in Buzz nylon jackets depending on the...

Review: Good Wear Bronco A-2, Steerhide

You know what is interesting that my Doniger has a smaller shoulder span (but lower arm holes) and a wider body than my Bronco. The Doniger is by far the better fit and both are 44s go figure. Each contract has its own quirks. My 44 RW fits different than the Doniger and the Bronco. The...

did WWII USN sub crew ever wear A2 leather jackets?

Actually Airborne (officers) were authorized to wear A2s (in non combat situations). Band of Brothers is a good example of that. Of course some trading went on with the other ranks (i.e., jump boots for an A2 for example). So some of the enlisted ranks got one as well. As far as the original...

is it safe to wear a WWII vintage leather flight jacket?

I have four original A2s all in excellent condition and very wearable no issues with dry rot etc. Do I wear them? Yes but not as much as I would want to. I wear my repros more. Why? Don't want to get something like that damaged. That is my reason not condition.

    A2 Jacket CBI

This looks like a Bronco also. Looks like a small notch at the bottom of the pocket which is one of the features of a Bronco.

**NEWS EXTRA**Good Wear flying jackets take vintage authenticity to new heights!!

Rufus, The goatskin does tend to be a bit lighter but it all comes down to weight of the leather. John uses about a 2.5 oz goatskin which is less thick than the 3 or 4 oz horsehide some repro makers use. What I really like about the goat vs horse is the goat is more supple and flexible and...
