Agree with Steve. I have seen first hand some of their work and it is first rate. Here is their web site

Good luck and thanks for serving your country.
To answer one question I have three original A2s in goatskin and they vary from very thin (Roughwear 18091) to somewhat thick (Doinger). I would guess they range from 2.5-3.5 oz. The Speiwak contract I had was pretty thin probably in the 2-2.5 oz range. Now to answer another question on HH it...
Actually I found the B-6 sheepskin jacket to be perfect for cold weather. Not as bulky as the B-3 and so you are able to move around doing outdoor work. Another choice could be the nylon MA-1 jacket. I have traveled back east (from Calif) during the winter and found it to be ideal. Keeps one...
Make sure you are sure of your size. I know with Gibson's A2s they tend to run large. I don't know about their G-1s. I would email them about the size to make sure it is right. Also as mentioned ebay is real good for G-1s. I got a 1960 model for $395. So I would take a look there. BTW on...
I forgot about one comment the vet I met who flew B-17s said of his A2. It was too tight and uncomfortable and left him in his words "too damn cold" when he flew. So he preferred a B-3 or B-6 Didn't know the maker of those either.
Interesting question. I have talked to three vets from WW2 about their flight jackets and none of them could tell me anything about the contract or if they preferred one maker from another. One guy bought a second one for 20 bucks when he was in England. I guess 20 bucks in 1944 went a lot...
Brier and Amsterdam size 42 G-1 $350 plus $18 shipping US
This G-1 was made in 1960 and is quite a rare bird. Has a unique blue lining which is unique among G-1s. Everything solid on this jacket. I wear Eastman size 42 A-2s for size reference. Email is greyhound68@comcast.net...
You are quite correct about avoiding jackets made in China or India. This jacket (goatskin) was a special deal Aero had with a subcontractor in India. Their signature (i.e., more expensive jackets) jackets are made in house. As is the LW jackets
Having owned one was not real thick but very smooth HH. If that is what you like then it should be fine. I feel you can't go wrong with a GandB for what you get and customer service is first rate.
Andrew is right they do tend to run small. I take a 44 in all my other originals and this one is a 46 and fits fine. Couldn't believe it was a 46 until I saw the cutter tag in the pocket. Grainy and in excellent condition.
