The Lightning has had a fair bit of use on the bikes. And I think its just great!!
Due to the lighter skin it is comfortable to wear and is probably better suited to summer riding.
Still think if they could get the prices down some they would find a LOT more customers.
There is no...
I have mentioned to LL that I would have preferred a slightly heavier weight leather form my Lightning.
Derek told me that they were considering offering a choice of weights as they had criticism in the past for using too heavy a weight.
Seems they are a forward thinking company, but one...
Just won this 30s half belt
The jacket is in Canada so may take a while to arrive, so I’ll just have to wait!!
It’s a similar style to my Aero Long Half belt, but with pleats rather than a by-swing back.
I will post more picture when it arrives, if it fits that is!!
James
Thanks for all your replies.
I think that my question is well and truly answered.
I wonder what the RAF equivalent to the A2 would have looked like.
I can see why we are not wearing Carapace suits today!!
But the Burfrom – perhaps?
Cheerio
James.
When I think of American leather flight jackets so many come to mind:
A1,A2,G1, B3 etc.
When I think of British leather flight jackets I can only think of one. Although arguably the most iconic, the Irvin.
Any thoughts on why this is? Or am I missing some?
Thanks
James.
Not sure this helps any but:
This is my LHB described as brown on the delivery note and also on the sale page, but I think its cordovan?
This is Aeros Brown from their web site
And Areos cordovan from their web site
Photos are not a reliable way to tell, mine was shot daylight...
Mark,
What you are doing here is extraordinary and of great interest to many of us.
Looking forward to hearing about your next jacket making endeavors.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
James.
I have an Aero custom Irvin in their ‘real deal’ sheepskin. I can’t imagine a tougher sheepskin.
When the first jacket arrived it was too small so they without hesitation made and sent me a larger size jacket, very quickly indeed. Will Cirrus do this if necessary?.
I have not owned a...
Interesting thought!
Not sure if the extra C E padding can be use whilst keeping the jacket looking period? Maybe Lewis can come up something?
I know that my Lewis is not as protective as a modern bike jacket but at least I am aware of this and it is a considered choice.
I do like to wear...
Edward, it’s horrible! The cut and fit is fine, it’s just that the polyester material feels, well like polyester!! Glad I did not pay the £100 original asking price, sorry for anyone that did.
I shall take a trip to TKMaxx in the morning, may get lucky. The link for styof69 shows jackets...
No bargain I’m afraid.
Made of 100% polyester and its awful!! If I paid £100 for it I would not be happy!
The detailing is really rather good though.
Fortunately the company sells genuine Baracuta G9s so I will pay the difference and exchange it.
Oh well.[huh]
James.
This may be a bit of a bargain I think.

Not sure if any good so to find out I have ordered one!
Cheerio
James.
My ELC Werber is just starting to look very similar.
I don’t think they have over done it and I can see this A2 selling well.
Nice jacket Andrew.
James.
Hi Steve,
You have got me curious about double and single weave knits.
I have just compared an Eastman Werber to an Aero A2, apart from the colour and that the Werber knits are softer, I see no difference.
Would it be possible expand on this or even show a picture?
Thanks
James
Having just bought a FQHH from Aero I would have to stress it is a HEAVY weight hide.
For the uninitiated it may take a bit of getting used to.
Its even thicker than my Lost Worlds A2, it may even be as thick as some of my shoes!
Having said that I think its uniqueness makes it more...
Here’s how I inadvertently broke in my new Aero:
Looked at BBC weather forecast (no rain forecast in the morning) and so we decided to ride my old Norton to Brooklands race track.
Rode in the rain! For 3 hours! :eusa_doh:
Rode back this time with waterproofs over my wet jacket, this...
