I have recently been looking for a 60/70s Lewis leather M/C jacket but have not found any I like so far.
I am now thinking of a new one, possibly a lightning. They are expensive! About £630.00
I know they are hand made in London and much of the price is for the heritage but I am struggling...
Thanks for that chaps.
Over on the VLJ a picture has been posted of a jacket exactly the same, this time with a label and yes it’s a 60s Sears Oakbrook!! I am right it thinking its Steerhide?
Cheerio for now:)
James.
Just bought this motorcycle jacket which was thought to be a 60s Hercules.
I am thinking it may be a 50s Buco.
The jacket has been re-lined (very well) but has lost its label.
Has anyone got any ideas as to who made it and how old it is?
I have been looking for a jacket of this...
Two Half Belts
Here is my £25.00 bargain: late30s/early 40s ‘Daniel Boone’ half belt.
It is a very fine jacket, very soft cape skin and feels great.
I have carried out some repairs to some pretty awful tears on the shoulder by using flexible glue to stick down the torn flaps of...
Hi Dean,
I have found Webshots easy to use: http://www.webshots.com/
I am guessing the extra seams are for the heated wires used on some Irvins?
Looking forward to the pictures to see if I’m right!
Not sure if this will work buts its a link to posting pictures...
Interesting debate.
I was once taught that ‘quality’ is the ability to best fulfill a requirement. If you require a low cost, economical, reliable car then a Lada would best meet those qualities (well maybe not reliable but you get the picture). Whereas a Rolls Royce would not, as it does...
I shall leave the cuffs for now and see how they wear.
Will try some bigger gauntlets!!
Thanks for all your comments.
Speedster, your ALC is looks great, nothing better than a well worn Irvin.
The sun back out today so it’s on with an A2 anyway.
Cheerio for now
James
Andrew,
Only yesterday I said to my girlfriend that I was thinking of trimming the cuffs!!
Not only for aesthetics, but to make it easier to get my 1940s gauntlets on.
If I’m feeling brave I may do just do it.
Hope I don’t mess up an expensive jacket:eek:
Seems to me WPG make a great jacket for the money.
Good news: the weather has turned cold again here in middle England.
Irvins need not be mothballed just yet! :D
Cheerio for now
James
Hi Raul,
I don’t think that you can get a better fit than that.
At first the sleeves looked a bit long but in my experience with Aero horsehide you will find that when the sleeves crease up they will be perfect.
Personally I like the shorter jacket length on Aeros.
Looks right to...
Aero Irvin review
Hi all,
Weather just getting warmer here so I thought I would post more pictures of my Aero Irvin before I put it away until next year. Sort of a review really.
I would welcome any thoughts you may have on this jacket.
As mentioned before it’s a pre war pattern in...
