Wow Josh, what a thorough review!! And coming from you it's one I can trust. The one unanswered question is "how much does it cost"? Will it be out of reach for too many people for Stetson to continue producing it? Also, how do you compare it to Fepsa beaver felt?

Interesting offering by Akubra. Too bad it's a western style body as it probably is the reason for the over $200 price. I can't help but think though at that price I'd be repeating that old ad "I could have had a V-8". For not much more money one could get a 100% beaver custom from one of...
I just picked up what appears to be a NOS Resistol 5X Open Road style in the original box. Has a Cavanaugh edge. looks totally unworn or very slightly at the most. At the price these are going for now I got a deal I couldn't pass on.

It's easier to go down than up. I've found numerous hats over the years that were several sizes too big for me but I bought them anyway because the price was too good to pass up. When I found out I had a hatter in town I took them over to Northwest hats and he was able to remove the original...
Evidently he thinks it is. I emailed him and told him it wasn't. He temporarily pulled it but reposted it again with the same description. I told him to send the pic to any hatter to verify it. It doesn't appear that he did. Oh well, let the buyer beware on that one. I'd pay $80.00 for it...
I recently bought a jacket from Great Britain off ebay and after I got it I found a small hole. I didn't even notice it at first but then of course after you know it's there you see every time you look at the jacket. It is an exceptionally well made jacket so I was very dismayed. But I found...
Super sad story about what used to be a great hat company. It's happening to many of the old brand names that used to put out fantastic wares but now offer cheaply made items that few people want. Sears, Montgomery Wards, Pennys, the list could go on, but that is the reality of today's...
I got to see this fepsa felt fedora in person before it went to the owner. The pic doesn't do it justice. The fepas felt has really rich and lustrous color that is difficult to capture on film.

True, I found a Borsalino tie at Goodwill a number of years ago. Can't say I was impressed with it.
I just looked at the price of new Borsalino's and I have to wonder why anyone would want to pay $575 for a new beaver borsy when you can get a custom fedora from one of the hatters often...
Is this a Monticristi?
The sweatband says Monticristi, but the weave doesn't look like any Monti I've seen. And the price for that weave seems crazy. What say you straw experts?? Seller says it cost over $1400 new...
I doubt there will be any US hatters that will abandon Winchester and go exclusively Fepsa. I just saw a finished fepsa rabbit felt fedora and a winchester beaver felt fedora side by side made by Northwest hats and while the fepsa felt was beautiful, the Winchester beaver was the winner in the...
Thanks for that honest assessment. I know that Northwest hats has to put a lot more work into a Winchester rabbit felt hat to make it look decent than he will on the fepsa rabbit. The winchester beaver does finish nice with a lot of ironing and pouncing though. But I'm anxious to see a fepsa...
I've always liked the 007 movies. One thing I miss though, is some of the tongue in cheek humor the older ones had that the new ones seem to be missing. Or maybe my humor meter is behind the times and I"m just not picking up on it.

Speaking of conversions, I really like the color on this one and I don't have any stingy brims so I'm thinking of having it cut down to around a 1 3/4 inch brim so I'll have one.
