After seeing many vintage photo's of bow ties with polka dots, I had to pick up a few even though they're not my favorite. As long as the dots aren't too big and look clownish I don't mind them. Here's one I got.

I actually have a vintage tie press. It's shaped like a sword and you slide it inside the tie to iron it. I went to Goodwill and bought the most wrinkled tie I could find to try it out. It worked fine, but with some caveats. Many ties have a stitch that has to be cut to allow you to slide the...
I have had great success by taking a spray bottle and misting them till they are damp and gently working the wrinkles out by hand. I've done with a lot of ties, silk and rayon blends. I've done the ironing too, but I've had the same problem of wrinkles over wrinkles when I do. Try the...
With a little research I answered my own question on this jacket. "The Blade" used to be called "The Gay Blade". They changed the name in the early 70s to just "The Blade" which is what the label says. So that would put the jacket in the time frame after that.

What a coincidence, I found a Stetson Nutria size 7 at Goodwill a few months ago and for 8 dollars I couldn't pass on it. It has a 3 1/2 inch brim and I left it at Northwest Hats to be converted also. Whenever Mike gets around to it he will make it into a fedora too. It's great seeing how...
Wow, a couple people really wanted this one!! I'm a little surprised, these weren't that high a quality hat to begin with. Nice yes, but vintage borsys are a lot higher quality and I've seen them go for less...
Wow!! That's a high price for a hat that he may or may not have actually worn. I always wonder about these type of hats as well. Truman could have told an aid to buy some to give away as gifts. Technically they could say it belonged to Truman since he paid for it, but was it a hat he...
I got this one in the mail today and this is what it looks like tied. I have the one end out a little far in the pic. I'm still getting the hand of tying them. But it is an easy adjustment to pull it back in a little.
