Hey, nothing lost for trying on our end. I just feel bad that you put effort into something and then had it all fall apart. They never should have been that far out of sinc! Shame on them, and thank you for thinking of us.

This is a size 7 1/2 Keppler / Beaver Brand Raiders hat, just like the one currently being sold... except without the long wait! :D This hat been handled just enough to start loosening up the felt a little, but is pretty much in new condition! I'm asking $105 shipped within the U.S. Feel...
I have yet to find an indispesible straw hat. I've had a few that I liked, but none have ever been a must-have.
In terms of felt hats, it would have to be an Art Fawcett custom. I have three, so could we make it "if you only had three hats..."?

Oh, yeah. I posted that baby way back. It was my first vintage find when I first got the bug. I ran out of patience when the only thing I ever found in my size were OR's, though. Then I got bit by the Art Fawcett bug! Maybe one day I'll find a vintage whippet to keep my blue OR company.

Great hat, JTL. I have one much like it! Same color, but mine has a darker sweatband and a different liner logo, and it was estimated as being from the 60's, so you might be right about yours being 50's. The light blue will show discolorations easily when examined, but always looks great when...
Have you thought about a light blue? Like a powder blue or something like that? It's one of those colors that surprises you with how good it really looks.
Here's a shot of my vintage Open Road in light blue...
I have no experience with Optimo, but my Avatar can attest to Art's great work. I've also become a fan of JP's work recently, and I know both AB's are great. It's all about what you want in a hat, from my POV. You want a beaver Indy hat, go AB. You want a rabbit Indy or non-Indy, call JP...
I go to Michael's, Rag Shop, or some other craft store and by sheets of colored craft foam, They don't have a sticky surface, and don't really need any. They say put on their own, which is better for the hat, and easier to remove if the hat shrinks later on. I just cut the sheets into long...
Skip the steam, for sure. Use cool water that you trust (filtered, distilled, etc.). You don't have to soak it, but don't be shy about getting it wet at the creases. Work it out with you hands. When it's dry, gently go over the areas that show a crease line with a hat brush or lint brush...
01) Over time, by wearing it, playing with it, etc, the shape will get trained in.
02) I re-bashed mine several times over the first few weeks. This will actually help break in the hat, and letting it sit a day or two won't hurt unless you really make deep creases or hit it steam or water...
I was actually looking at the Riverz Delta. lol
I don't know how I feel about a plastic hat, but remember how annoying it was last summer when rain was in the forcast. I overheat very easily, so I need something breathable, like straw, but able to stand a little rain.

playitagainsam; The brind new Federation I have in my closet measure about 2.75 inches of brim rear and sides, and just a tiny bit more in front. The crown will be about 5.5 inches before you bash it, but a diamond or c-crown should bring it down to about 5.
