VS Silverbelly Dressweight
Below is a picture of a hat that Art made me a few months ago. It is a 100% beaver dressweight in sliverbelly. It has a 2 3/4" brim and a 5 1/2" open crown which I have put in a cattleman's crease. I haven't had a chance to wear it much because it has been so hot...
Oh well, if you only need a couple more guys (I can use that for an excuse to buy another hat) throw me in for one in size 59. I'll take whatever color helps you finalize the deal. Thanks for all your hard work.
Sorry I'm just now responding guys. I was planning on having a nice lazy Sunday yesterday but got a call and ended up having to work. I will probably have to leave again later today so if I'm slow in responding please forgive me. I work in the oil and gas business and when we have a well...
I have a very nice vintage Adams Deluxe in size 7 1/2 Long Oval I’d like to trade if I can find something that interests me. It fits me a tad big and I measure about 23 1/2” long oval. It actually is not too bad a fit though because I prefer my hats a little loose. The hat is in great shape with...
Mystic,
We should have moved that correspondence to this thread. I wasn't thinking when I replied. If it is relevant, maybe one of the bartenders can move it. Sorry about that.
Which scene was that in Boardwalk Empire? I didn't notice a Cavanaugh hat. I've been trying to catch a glimpse of the inside of some their hats but I haven't seen any yet. I must have missed that one.
I didn't see the BR logo. So yes, that would make it post 1927. I'm afraid I don't know the answer to any of your other questions.
I do have a Resistol San Antonio with a liner similar to the bottom picture. Based on my research in the Resistol thread I think it was made in the mid 60's.
The top liner is definitely older. The Byer-Rolnick firm was founded in 1927. Before that it was just Harry Rolnick by himself. I don't think that necessarily makes the top liner pre-1927 though. They may have just put Rolnick's name on the hats initially because he was the hat maker and Byer...
Texas Hatters in Lockhart, Texas used to make them. I don't know much about the details of their top hat because I've never looked closely at one. You can call David and ask him about them. He is a very nice guy. Below is their website.

I watched the first episode and was pretty disappointed.
It did look to me like Chiklis was wearing an Akubra Bogart. I saw the X's in Quaid's hat too but it didn't really look like a Stetson to me. Before I saw the X's I thought it was an Akubra too. Briefly in the interrogation scene you...
Mike, there is not much difference between an OR and a Strat except the name on the sweatband. Same bow on both. I've never seen a blue OR though but have seen some blue gray Strats. Whatever the inspiration, it turned out great!
If you have never owned one I think you will like a Campdraft. A very versatile hat that looks good in the city or out in the country.
I ordered a Boss of the Plains from Everything Australian a few months ago. I haven't received it yet though. It is still on backorder. Based on the picture...
Akubra's are great hats. I don't see the Adventurer on Everything Australian's website though. However, since it is on order and you have since found one, maybe you can call them and change your order to another style hat so you don't have two of the same. I especially like Akubra's Campdraft...
