Here is a Stetson Beaver 100 I just purchased. I haven't received the hat yet so I don't have much to contribute except these pictures from the Seller's auction.
Randall,
I have a 7 3/8 Stetson Open Road that I removed the old sweatband. It has the same 13 marked on the felt at the rear. This may be coincidence on my hat but the 1 is a long mark that is exactly where the rear of the sweatband should meet and the 3 is to the right of it. Maybe it is...
It definitely doesn't look as elegant in the pictures as a Stetson 100. It does look like a very nice hat though. I've never owned or even held a Stetson 100 so I have nothing to compare it to. However, I'll try to take some better pictures of it and post them once I receive the hat.
Buler,
I just finished reading through that thread. Thanks for the link. However, now I'm really confused! Based on the dates for the hats in the other thread, they were making the Beaver 100 the same time they were still making the 100. I wonder what the difference is and which one would be...
I forgot to mention, but I'm sure you'll notice it, it is void of the 100 markings on the liner and next to the Stetson logo on the sweatband. Maybe this is not a true Stetson 100 but something similar made later.
Stetson Beaver 100
Below are some pictures of a Stetson "Beaver" 100 I recently purchased. I don't have the hat yet so the pictures are from the Seller. I have looked through all the Stetson 100 pictures I could find on the lounge and unless I missed it I did not see one with this type of plaid...
Paris Hatters has a lot of short, stingy brimmed styled hats not just western hats. I have never seen one quite like that one but I bet you can find something fairly close. The brim will probably be up on the hat in the store though. Just remember you can snap the brims down or take that picture...
I'm not sure what that specific hat is but since you are in San Antonio you might look around at Paris Hatters downtown on Broadway. Abe has a bunch of different style hats.
Welcome to the forum.
Brando,
Thanks. I like the way a diamond crease looks but a center crease usually works better for me. I actually have that hat in a Cattleman's now. I guess I'm one of the few on the Fedora Lounge that likes the Cattleman's crease.
Thanks for the compliments guys.
Randall, the red satin liner on that one is not sewed in. I can take it out for warmer weather to get the benefits of the ventilation holes and put it in for cooler weather.
Che, I hope the kid likes the hat and congratulations on the Hanover. I saw that auction and was watching to see what it went for. I thought it would go for a lot more. You made a great buy! That's a great hat with some cool history to it.
