You weren't using the same aftermarket magazines in both pistols were you? If so, that could have been the problem.
I have never owned a Kimber or Wilson Combat so I really can't comment on their reliability. However, I have been collecting Colt 1911's for many years and the only problems I...
I forgot to mention that I didn't find any noticeable difference with a liner in or out of a felt hat with the exception of the liners in an Akubra Campdraft. Those liners have a heavy plastic protector in the top that made the hat very hot. I removed the factory liner and replaced it with a...
I came to the same conclusion this summer myself. In the 100+ Texas heat I sweated just as bad in a straw as a felt. I actually think the felt when wet with sweat was cooler when the breeze picked up. A couple of times I even purposely dunked my Akubra Cattleman in cool water to get some relief...
Che,
Great pictures! I'm glad Tialoc likes his hat. Even though it is a 6 7/8 it looks huge on him. At least he'll get to wear it for awhile before he grows out of it. The City Slicker looks great too! Have a nice weekend with the grandkids.
Ed,

James Taylor sang at the DNC Convention yesterday and was wearing a beautiful Open Road style hat. It looked like either a vintage or custom made hat to me because when he waved it at the first the felt was obviously very soft.
Here is a link to a video of the performance...
I discovered this purely by chance. I was trying to fluff up a small moth bite with a pin and had a watchband link removing tool laying on my desk. I tried the sharp two prong end of it and found that it does a great job of touching up a moth bite. It works so good that on a couple of my hats I...
Just last night I watched some TV show about trappers in Alaska. One trapper said he gets about $100.00 for one beaver pelt. After watching what he had to go through to trap a beaver I can see why it is not very profitable.
I also checked a 7 5/8 Dunlap hat and it has a centered 1 and 5/8 out to the side. I think we can put this mystery in the solved category. What's next on the list Dr. Watson?
