I've never used Scout but have used talcum powder before to absorb some stains. If it won't brush off I use an air compressor to blow it off. I also use an air compressor to blow any dust off an old hat when I first get it. I've found that sometimes just brushing one will drive the dust in deeper.
Great looking hats guys!
Alan, that old black Stetson is gorgeous. I'd love to find one of those but I know my chances are slim so Art is making me something similar in his black lightweight felt.
Tom, where did you find that Biltmore Open Road? Is that the same hat that Miller Hats used...
Thanks.
Has anyone ever heard of one of these? I was curious if Resistol gave them to all the Governors or this one was made specially for Governor Egan. I have a feeling it was probably a special run made for all the Governors at that time.
Thanks guys.
Randall, it fits me just a tad too tight but I have no intention of stretching it or wearing it. Since he was the first Governor of Alaska it should really be in a museum up there.
I ended up winning that one. Just for kicks I put a bid in not much more than the final price and won. I didn't think I had any chance at all of winning it. I thought it was going to go for much more. I guess because it wasn't creased it didn't get much attention. I can't wait to see it. I don't...
Resistol Governor's Special
I have already posted this hat in the Hats With History Thread but thought it needed to be here also.
Below is a hat I recently purchased that apparently was given to Alaska's first Governor, William A. Egan. The sweatband states it is a Three X Beaver Governor's...
Alaska Governor's Hat
Below is a hat I recently purchased that apparently was given to Alaska's first Governor, William A. Egan. The sweatband states it is a Three X Beaver Governor's Special with Governor Egan's name also imprinted on it. It is a size 7 3/8 and has the same dimensions as a...
Alan, great comparisons. Thanks for taking the time to do them.
I love your Dunlap Wanderer. Something about that hat, every time I see a picture of it I'm more impressed with it.
Eric,
Your lightweight granite looks great. Art made one for me too but I haven't had a chance to take any pictures yet. I was a little unsure of the color too until I received it. Great color. The color is very similar to my Akubra Campdraft in Moonstone Grey. The Campdraft may be just a...
Ed, that's a great link. Thanks.
Is there some way to see how many watcher's there are for an item by looking at the eBay site? I can see the number of bidders but not watchers. Maybe I'm missing something because I normally use the mobile version on an iPad.
Thanks Eric. Art did a great job on it. It is definitely unique. I don't think I have ever seen a Dualist type hat with a cattleman's crease. I'm really proud of it. I was thinking about having another one made with a wider brim for a full western hat look.
