I don't have any pictures of it yet but I just received a Moonstone Campdraft from Hatsdirect. It is a great color. I think I like it better than the Glen Grey but they are both very nice colors.
Thanks. All of Art's hats are impressive. You can't really tell from the picture but that is a big rig. That particular well it is drilling will be a total measured distance of a little over 16,000'. It will go approximately 9,000' vertically and then 7,000' horizontally. It takes a lot of power...
Nice looking taupe fawn JT. I stoled your crease and put it on my last Campdraft. That type of crease works well for me. The bump in the middle makes a big difference for me because I wear mine down low.
I just ordered a Federation from Hatsdirect and since I have ordered quite a few hats in size 59 from them before, Trudi emailed me and asked if I wanted to get a 60 instead. She said the Federations do run a little smaller than the rest of the Akubras. A size 59 in the Federation is about 58.5...
I'm just catching up on this thread. Great looking hats everybody!
Alan, that is a very classy looking looking outfit!
Che, I'm glad the hats worked out for you. As always, your pictures are great.
Somebody snagged a nice one in the auction below. I hope it was a lounger. I think it was only listed for a few minutes before the Buy Now feature was used...
VS Silverbelly
I have already posted this in the Art Fawcett thread but thought I would include it here since it was at work.
The hat is an Art Fawcett (Vintage Silohouettes) silverbelly with the same dimensions as a vintage Stetson Open Road. Thin ribbon and matching bound 2 3/4" brim, 5...
That's a great idea. When I get a chance I'll take some pictures and measurements. I can tell you right now though, there is no similarity in felt. Art's dressweight pure beaver is heads above the 20X.
Thanks for all the compliments guys. I really appreciate it. Art is the one who deserves the compliments though. All I did was crease it and put it on!
Stetson Open Roads used to be very common in the Texas oil fields years ago. Especially among the old wildcatters of the 40's and 50's. You...
BJ,
You should try an Akubra Sydney from David Morgan. Hatsdirect also sells the same hat except their hat has a wind trolley I believe. The Hatsdirect hat is called the Fedora. These hats come with a 5 1/2" open crown, 2 1/2" brim and a wider ribbon. The felt is suppose to be Imperial...
Thanks Eric and Manfred. This hat is way too nice to be a work hat. You can tell from the picture I'm keeping it a safe distance from the rig. It would kill me to get an oil stain on it!
