    Marc- Absolutely the tops-literally- "a crown upon your head"-now that's humility from the hatter! Maybe the wire's there so if you try to take it off, ZAP! and yes, I've heard of Fedoras with the wire brim, usually off-brands, or as you said, Westerns-but carried over into their "city"...

    The "Indy" hat looks great-no taper!! I've got a bunch of hats that I can stretch myself, but end up with a conehead look- that lid is super- will have to bite the bullet and send 'em out and stop beating the poor things up. Finally convinced me-thanks!!

    Henrik: Seems the consensus is to leave the lines of the hat the way they are-let a master hatter have at it-you'll save the liner, maybe the ribbon (if not, have him duplicate it) and it can be stretched so that the taper is not pronounced-; I know, you want a 30's style- fine. Use another hat...
